The Spring Career and Internship Fair is one week from today! Are you prepared?! Here are a few tips to take the next step in your career journey! 1. Register via Handshake! https://lnkd.in/gKk5X47V 2. While you're in the event on Handshake, review the list of 110+ employers, check out their profiles and offerings, and make a game plan for your time at the fair. 3. Attend Resume Rush on February 28 or 29 from 10AM-3PM in the Campus Center Grand Hall. Employer partners and professional staff will be provide feedback to put your best foot forward! 4. Update your LinkedIn page with your work, community, and leadership experiences! While you're at the fair, you'll be able to get a free professional headshot to complete the refresh. 5. Whether you're a first-year student, completing your bachelor's, or in grad school, the fair can be overwhelming. Remember we'll have the Decompression Zone for you to take a breath or get a pep talk from alumni there to support you.

Exciting Experience at the Career Fair Last Night! 🌟 I had the incredible opportunity to attend the career fair at The Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre last night. It was a fantastic experience connecting with employers, learning about various industries, and gaining insights into the job market. Some key takeaways from the event: Engaged with 31 employers: I had meaningful conversations with companies across diverse sectors. Made 11 valuable connections: Excited to expand my professional network and explore potential mentorship opportunities. Explored internship opportunities: Looking forward to summer 2024 internships, as well as full-time roles for when I graduate in spring 2026. Networking with peers: Over 300 fellow students attended, creating a vibrant environment for collaboration and shared experiences. Events like these reinforce the importance of networking and staying proactive in our career journeys. I'm excited to follow up with the connections I made and explore new opportunities! Tips to Stand Out at a Career Fair - Perfect Your Elevator Pitch: Prepare a concise and compelling introduction about yourself. Highlight your skills, experiences, and what you’re looking for in an internship. - Bring Your Resume: Have multiple copies of your updated resume ready. Ensure it’s tailored to the roles you’re interested in, showcasing relevant skills and experiences. If you don't have past internships, include past relevant projects. - Ask Thoughtful Questions: Engage with us, and ask us real, insightful questions about the company, culture, growth opportunities, and specific roles. This demonstrates your enthusiasm and preparedness. Bonus points if you have already done your research about the company and can drop a few knowledge points. - Apply for the Internship: If you are interested in joining, apply to the internship following the career fair. Your eagerness speaks volumes about your work ethic. - Follow Up: After the fair, reach out to us on LinkedIn, and mention something specific from our conversation to jog our memory. To those who've already secured summer 2024 internships or new grad roles, I have one piece of advice for you. 💡 CONTINUE to take advantage of the career development opportunities your school offers. ✅ If your school has a Spring 2024 Career Fair, register and attend. ✅ If your school is hosting an event with a speaker or representative from a specific company, register and attend. ✅ If your school is hosting a visit to a specific company's office to meet with fellow alumni, register and attend. The truth is, you don't know where the people you meet at such opportunities could take you one day. Treat such opportunities as door-opening opportunities. The more doors you have open, the more career opportunities you'll have at your disposal.
