They are increasing in number & sophistication, and have a significant impact on our financial, public and physical security.   Law enforcement has an essential role to play in the response to cyber-attacks, complementing that of cybersecurity actors. ⚖ "Looking into the future," said the REvil actor, posing in front of the State Duma in Moscow, who would later be arrested as a result of attribution efforts. 📌 Mikhail Golovachuk was one of the eight REvil actors who faced charges. “Looking into the future,” he commented on his Instagram post on December 2, 2019, posing in front of the State Duma building in Moscow, Russia, located nearly 500 meters from the Kremlin. With the best intentions to serve his country, little did Golovachuk know that he would become a bargaining chip in Russia’s negotiations with the US. Along with seven other identified REvil actors, he is currently on trial in Russia, and the fate of these individuals remains uncertain. 📌 Identification of ransomware actors plays a significant role in overall combating of ransomware in addition to proactive defense mechanisms.
