Apple revealed that the two AI models underpinning Apple Intelligence, its AI system, were pretrained on Google-designed chips in the cloud. Key takeaways: 🟢 Apple leveraged Google's powerful #TPU V5p and v4 chips on Google Cloud for efficient and scalable training of AFM-on-device and AFM-server models. 🟡 AFM-on-device (3b parameter model): Trained on a single "slice" of 2048 TPU v5p chips. 🔵 AFM-server: Trained on a whopping 8192 TPU v4 chips configured as eight slices.
