Talking Transatlantic Affairs in Europe  - Episode 4 For the transatlantic community to thrive in the 21st century, it will need to become more inclusive. This means externally, in terms of engaging countries beyond the traditional relationships, but also internally, making sure marginalized citizens have access to the benefits of the relationship. The second edition of Decolonial Europe Day will take place this Thursday, May 9th. Last year we were honored to host an online panel on "Europe and the Responsibility for Repairing Colonial Crimes" during the first edition of Decolonial Europe Day. The Decolonial Europe Day is an initiative that uses the occasion of Europe Day (May 9th each year) to bring together existing decolonizing initiatives, civil society organizations and other actors around the common project of decolonizing Europe, understood as an ongoing process. The intention of Decolonial Europe Day is to create a space for exchange on how to decolonize Europe, to amplify decolonial voices in and about Europe, to support the creation of synergies and to make this kind of conversation more mainstream in Europe, with the ultimate goal of dismantling and replacing colonial power structures. Today marks a crucial step as the Ohio Immigrant Alliance, led by Lynn Tramonte, unveils the initial research products from an extensive 18-month research initiative under my guidance, shedding light on the profound challenges of racism and systemic injustices faced by Black migrants within U.S. immigration courts. Outlined below are key resources: Dystopia, Then Deportation Plenary Session Recording: On December 12, 2023, a gathering of over 60 influential voices—including advocates, community leaders, legal experts, philanthropic partners, and directly impacted individuals—convened both physically and virtually at the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice. This pivotal event, "Dystopia, Then Deportation," catalyzed substantial discussions addressing the systemic injustices and egregious human rights violations experienced by Black migrants within the U.S. immigration enforcement system. Our exhaustive study, utilizing a Mixed Methods Study Design, integrated quantitative and qualitative methodologies to comprehensively examine the hurdles faced by Black migrants within and beyond the confines of immigration court proceedings. Through this approach, we've uncovered profound insights, substantiated evidence, and formulated pertinent recommendations during our research expedition."
