Satish Koripella from eBay is looking for a Senior Product Manager! There is simply too much friction reading a resume right now, so the best way for you to land interviews is by direct message on LinkedIn BUT LET ME BE CRYSTAL CLEAR. You still have to mass apply, because when companies ask you if you have applied yet in the portal and you say no then you have to start from scratch. It’s a lot of work I know and it sucks, but you got to do it. In 2025 mark my words at the rate AI is moving you will all by interviewing with holograms. I am not joking at all. There will be AI recruiting software that will sort, sift, screen (oh yes interview you), and schedule the second round interview. This is why I am telling everybody to land this job as soon as possible and to start a brand (more on that later), but for now you need to deliver a more impactful message to pitch your resume. Well… Rich what the heck am I supposed to say? That’s a fair question and I got you covered right here. I have a list of 33 openers you can use in Skool. See you in Skool! https://lnkd.in/gtQjCfUH Don’t be late to Skool! https://lnkd.in/gtQjCfUH PS Please RESHARE this post for all your colleagues still looking for a job. #productmanagement #productmanagementcareers #productmanagementjobs #speedtolead

Yesterday I was promoted with a new title! While the title in itself is incredibly validating, more than anything I think it validates why finding purpose is so important. Even with a new title, my purpose and focus remains the same as it's been throughout my career, and boils down to 6 things: 1. Help people become a smarter, better version of themselves 2. Help businesses become a smarter, better version of themselves 3. Maintain ultra-high standards for myself and others 4. Work smart and hard: use my network, effective communication, all available data, and technology to execute the above 👆 5. Quantify the impact wherever possible 6. Do 1-5 with high levels of consistency I joined Rebuy Engine 2.5 years ago looking to make a splash. It's incredibly validating to be recognized for the impact I have helped drive here, working alongside the some of the smartest people. Thanks John Erck, James Van Erck, and Dylan Gifford for the foundation, the vision, and taking a shot on me as Rebuy's first sales hire! I credit this personal milestone and win to my supportive family, the leaders (good and bad) that I got to learn from, and of course the awesomeness of the Rebuy platform and team of talented pros I get to work with. There's just so much demonstrable potential to unlock massive value for all of our Shopify merchants! I also credit this milestone to my inner critic- maybe I'll unpack that more later. For now, back to work- LET'S GO! PS. We're hiring for various roles in Engineering, Support, Partnerships, and of course, Success 🚀 : https://lnkd.in/gaDukiJy

Shopify to Reorganize Support Division, Sparking Concerns of Job Cuts Shopify, the e-commerce giant, is making internal changes in its Support division, triggering worries among employees about potential layoffs. The reorganization is aimed at enhancing the merchant experience and streamlining team structure, as the ratio of managers to individual contributors has decreased. Employees are concerned about possible job cuts as the company adjusts reporting lines, consolidates specialized teams, and implements changes in team dynamics. Notably, support teams working with Shopify's largest enterprise merchants will not be affected by the reorganization. This move follows the "Code Yellow" project, where AI was leveraged to develop tools like a help center assistant to improve customer service. Thank you Hiroshi Tanaka for your submission!

The Counterintuitive Approach to Efficiency That Can Transform Your Business When founder Tobi Lütke realized that Shopify was becoming inefficient as it grew, he didn't just throw more people at the problem. Instead, he took a step back and applied his engineering mindset to the issue. He recognized that adding more people to solve a problem that could be handled by one person was actually slowing things down. He kept his teams lean and focused. He provided them with the right tools and processes. Efficiency was greatly improved. This approach led to the development of unique systems inside Shopify. What I learned from this story is that bigger teams and more resources don't always lead to better results. The most efficient solutions often come from constraint and a focus on simplicity. Many founders believed that growth and success are synonymous with increased headcount and complexity. But it is wrong in many cases. Take the time to examine your processes and identify areas where small changes could lead to big improvements. Approach efficiency like an engineer – break down problems, identify the most elegant solutions, and don't be afraid to challenge conventional wisdom. #engineering #business #efficiency

Within 24 hours, we received customer feedback and sign-ups for a new product we haven’t even launched yet… Why? Because we’re the lifeblood of e-comm. Ok… that sounds cocky, so let me explain. The level of intimacy Platter has with its customers is unmatched because we're completely intertwined and immersed into the customer journey. We sit at the foundational layer of their tech stack with Smart Theme (Platter's Shopify theme product). We’re able to really understand their pain points and needs, which allows us to create additional products and features that they actually want. This is the kind of R&D others would pay a lot to have. Because of this, we don’t formulate product roadmaps. We take what they’re looking for, create the product, ask for their input, and build it out accordingly. Super excited about this new product we’ll be launching soon. 5 of our largest customers already use it and we had to stop pitching it to others to fulfill them first. Incredibly exciting spot to be in. 🚀

When Shopify does something they knock it out of the park. Loved the video. But adding different paths for growth in a job line based on what people naturally love to do isn’t a novel idea. Somewhere between 2017-2018 I know a Toronto based software company implemented three paths to Software Engineer L3. 1) Continue hands-on and grow in domain knowledge 2) People Leadership 3) Architecture It seemed that many of the candidates and employees I spoke to loved this. When I joined Mercatus I pushed for a similar idea to be adopted. Everyone wants to grow in their career and if the only option for growth is managing other people you will likely have high turnover of senior employees. To retain them you need to have different paths for them to deliver value and continue to be challenged (and compensated). Mercatus now has a IC track and a people management track, by the way. ✅
Today we launched ~Mastery to Shopify, a new talent system that rewards our people for doing the work they love to do. Spoiler Alert: We don’t like the traditional corporate ladder so we decided to kick it down. This is the work that fires me up. This is another example of how we are disregarding outdated HR norms that aren’t in service of the kind of company we want to be, and the people we want to celebrate. This is what I love doing, and why I’m loving playing my own infinite game at Shopify. A company full of people who give a shit, who are all-in on doing the work they love? That’s what it’s all about. Take a look at how we launched ~Mastery today to our team.

In a non-zero interest rate environment (where money is not "free"), e-commerce companies are once again subject to the gravity force of unit economics - i.e., you can't spend more to acquire and retain a customer, than what you can earn from a customer over time. The network effects that give the likes of Meta and Google their competitive advantage, do not accrue in the same way for e-commerce platforms. If both buyers and sellers have little to no friction joining and leaving the platform (or being on multiple platforms at once), there is no "lock-in" effect, which means platforms must either compete on price or on (unique) experience. Most of the mass-market e-commerce platforms focus on price competition because of the pressure to gain market share and grow, thus it is not surprising that none of them are actually profitable. And when "free" money dries up, cutbacks and layoffs become inevitable. Will consumers be worse-off in this situation? It depends. If more e-commerce companies merge (or go out of business) and consumers have fewer options, we are likely to pay higher prices (think Grab and Uber). But if significant competition remains, then e-commerce players are unlikely to dramatically increase their fees, as customers can simply switch or go back to physical stores (which will create a doom-loop for the business). Will we experience the same staggering discounts and offers from the heyday of e-commerce? Unlikely. Will consumers have to suffer from more price inflation online? Possibly, if the industry continues to consolidate and fewer players remain in the market. Regardless, the industry faces multiple headwinds and a rethink of business models and the customer experience is needed. #ecommerce #loyalty #customerexperience #platformstrategy
