NADD’s 41st Annual Conference in Tempe, AZ, October 7-9, 2024 will include Transforming Crisis Care: Positive Systems in Action. This presentation will discuss how to use a systems approach, positive psychology practices (e.g., character strengths, PERMA+, etc.), Biopsychosocial model, and trauma-informed approach to prevent and support individuals with co-occurring IDD/MH from going into crisis. Case studies will be presented to describe how each strategy was individualized and implemented. Additionally, the presentation will discuss barriers and overgeneralization of some strategies that could have negative effects.
