Excellent article by Ben Allen. TY for sharing the learnings from a system I have always looked to as a north star. "They did a 1 year public engagement to understand the needs of the community." This should be the starting point of any system re-design. Understanding the needs of the community & people being served ➡ People-centred design - not system-centred design = greater chance of success + sustainability.

The Nuka system of care, run by the Southcentral Foundation in Alaska, has been described as "the best primary care system in the world". It has sustained its outstanding outcomes for the past 25 years. In this analysis, Ben Allen GP explains that it wasn't just a change in the process of care but a whole different way of thinking about care: https://lnkd.in/e4BE_hvr Source of graphic: Doug Eby Southcentral Foundation

Fascinating read. It's interesting to see this paradigm shift happening in all areas of health: moving away from the individual and looking at the system to optimize health.

Not sure what Sky are doing. As Buckingham Palace report King Charles’ encouraging recovery progress, SkyNews Australia report “Concerns over King Charles are growing as the Monarch’s health is reportedly progressively deteriorating.” Their source? The Daily Beast. The evolution, ( some would say decay) of media fact-checking and source-dependence, together with the disinformation epidemic now poisoning social media, really has made reliable truth and dependable information increasingly hard for the public to find. This also raises the question of why SkyNews Australia. Do the media these days tend to feed the public news and angles they think they will welcome, rather than news they think may be the truth? And do Sky think a negative story about the King’s health would play better in Australia? Or is it just random news management ?

Drug-resistant infections and antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) pathogens do not respect borders. We must take action now. Our actions must be guided by science, strengthening surveillance and stewardship programs, implementing strong national action plans, and promoting a One Health approach to address the challenge of AMR. #AntimicrobialResistance #AMR #UNGeneralAssembly #UNHighLevelMeeting #globalhealthchallenge
Ahead of the #UNHighLevelMeeting on #AntimicrobialResistance tomorrow, Khadija Omar, our Board Vice Chairperson, reminds us of the #globalhealthchallenge of #AMR and the role of the #UNGeneralAssembly in finding a global solution. She emphasizes the urgency for unified global action: 'No action today, no cure tomorrow.' It's time to prioritize science-driven solutions, invest in #research, and implement strong national plans to combat AMR and secure the future.
