If you are a leader in your organization and you were unsure how to discuss Juneteenth with your team, here is some historical context to consider. Juneteenth is the oldest internationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it marks the day Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the enslaved were now free, two and a half years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. Despite various explanations for the delay, including the withholding of information by enslavers, the significance of this day in American history cannot be understated. #Juneteenth #HistoryLesson
