EPA has updated the CO-Benefits Risk Assessment Health Impacts Screening and Mapping Tool (COBRA)! ☁️ In COBRA 5.0, users can now evaluate the impacts of ground-level ozone for the first time. This version also includes updated air quality modeling for ambient PM2.5 concentrations, as well as the addition of new health impacts for O3 and PM2.5. https://www.epa.gov/cobra

Extreme heat kills more people in the US than any other natural disasters - combined. Yet for the most part, people don't think of it as that dangerous. CDC just released a new tool, a heat and health tracker which uses hospital syndromic surveillance data to track for heat-related illnesses. This is really useful to gather more data about who is being impacted, where, and when across the US during heat months, and better inform our preparedness and response efforts. A cool (or hot?) initiative which must have taken a lot of data coordination and synthesis by CDC. Excited to see! https://lnkd.in/g3ZWkp9Q

I personally love to see pictures of a heavily instrumented pump (in this case a large BB1). It shows how even [umps for services such as water transfer can benefit from appropriate health monitoring. Read this article recently published on World Pumps and discover how, due to our capacity to innovate, extensive experience in the water sector, and a wide portfolio of pumps and services, we can contribute to water security. https://okt.to/MbBTjD

With summer officially in full swing, it’s important to understand how the environment and extreme temperatures impact our health and safety. We must be mindful of certain associated health risks that come with the summer months, including dehydration, heat exhaustion and other heat related illnesses. While extreme heat impacts us all, according to KFF, it disproportionally affects minority populations and under-resourced communities who are at higher risk for dying from extreme heat exposure, due to the heat island effect and lack of access to air conditioning. Reducing disparities and advancing health equity are key priorities at Aetna, a CVS Health Company and we’re focused on improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve. The National Integrated Heat Health Information System shares resources for those most affected by extreme heat, along with ways we can all help reduce heat related health disparities in our own communities.
