ICYMI, EPA hosted a #CPRG Planning Grant Workshop where state, local, Tribal, and territorial participants collaborated on community driven solutions to combatting the climate crisis. #InflationReductionAct

Hurrah! State, local, Tribal, and territorial leaders came together last week to discuss how to best tackle the climate crisis through community action at the CPRG Planning Grant workshop. EPA closed out the CPRG planning grant workshop with a federal funding fair to help planning grant recipients identify potential resources to help them implement their Climate Action Plans.

The 34 recipients of EPA’s #CPRG Tribes and Territories Competition are implementing community-driven projects across the U.S., including: TRIBE: The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians replacing 50 Tribal fleet vehicles and establishing an electric vehicle shuttle system. TRIBE: The Hopi Tribe of Arizona electrifying nearly 900 homes. TERRITORY: The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands modernizing its lighting system and reducing electricity consumption by approximately 40% at each retrofitted building across the capital city of Saipan. ICYMI - EPA announced selected recipients of $34 million in Grant Funding to Address Indoor Air Pollution at Schools made possible under the Inflation Reduction Act. The U.S. Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools will build capacity among school district staff in low-income, disadvantaged and Tribal communities to establish and put into practice indoor air quality management plans and greenhouse gas emissions plans. Climate change disproportionately affects Tribal communities, leading to profound cultural, environmental and public health consequences, including the loss of sacred sites, increased health effects, and depleted natural resources.
