As we dive deeper into the season of rising temperatures, it's crucial for us all to play our part in conserving energy and promoting sustainability. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency recommends setting air conditioner temperatures at or above 24 degrees Celsius for optimal efficiency and environmental impact. 🌿 Why 24 Degrees Celsius? By adhering to this guideline, we not only ensure our comfort and health but also significantly reduce energy consumption. This modest adjustment not only saves on energy bills but also contributes to our collective effort in combating climate change. 💡 A Call to Action: Let's make a conscious effort to adjust our air conditioner settings to meet this recommendation. Whether at home, in the office, or in public spaces, every degree counts towards a greener and more sustainable future. 🌎 Together, We Can Make a Difference: Join me in embracing this simple yet impactful change. By collectively adopting energy-efficient practices, we pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow. #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #ClimateAction #BureauOfEnergyEfficiency #GreenLiving #EnvironmentalImpact #ConserveEnergy #GoGreen

This has been such tricky news to read about at the same time as we're realizing at the bottom of the #SafeSystemsPyramid the most impactful strategies require efforts such as congestion pricing that work at the population scale and fundamentally address exposure. Reducing VMT is a safety strategy. Distinguishing between roads for movement and roads for place is a critical aspect of our #SafeSystem pivot, but it will be challenging to do this in the US with our land use patterns and our complicated politics.
“The plan's ultimate goals were to get cars off the road, reduce carbon #emissions, and improve public #transit… Congestion pricing would have… made the city #safer, cleaner, and easier to get around”
Cities know how to improve traffic. They keep making the same colossal mistake.

🌍 CO2 in the Spotlight: Navigating the Complexities of Climate Solutions 🌍 The European Commission's recent strategy on CO2 reduction has sparked a conversation that's as complex as it is critical. While the EU's plan to transform CO2 from a climate challenge into a climate solution is innovative, it's essential to consider the full spectrum of views and challenges. Here's a balanced take: 1️⃣ CO2: A Resource in Disguise?: The EU's strategy to capture and repurpose CO2 emissions is a bold reimagining of the gas's role in our environment. This could lead to new green technologies and economic opportunities. Yet, some experts caution that an overemphasis on Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) might shift focus away from the urgent need to reduce emissions at the source. 2️⃣ The Debate on Carbon Capture: While CCU is a promising technology, it's not without its critics. Concerns range from the potential environmental impacts of CO2 pipelines to the fear that carbon regulation policies could harm economies without significantly impacting climate change. 3️⃣ The Challenge of Net-Zero: Achieving net-zero emissions is a complex goal. It involves creating realistic carbon targets and making carbon reduction a reality, which can be a significant challenge for some organizations and governments. As we navigate this terrain, it's clear that a multifaceted approach is necessary—one that balances innovative CO2 utilization with aggressive emission reductions and renewable energy investments. What are your thoughts on finding this balance? Can we turn CO2 into an ally in our fight against climate change without losing sight of the broader goal of decarbonization? Share your perspectives and let's discuss how we can unite for a carbon-neutral future. #ClimateChange #CO2Utilization #NetZero #EUGreenDeal #RenewableEnergy #SustainableInnovation 🔗 Explore the EU's strategy and join the debate: European Commission Press Release 👍 Engage with this post by liking, sharing, and commenting. Under EU State aid rule, the European Commission has greenlit a €4 billion German initiative designed to assist the country's industrial sector in slashing greenhouse gas emissions during production processes. Operating through 'Climate Protection Contracts', the scheme offers variable annual grants over a 15-year period, and ensures the measure only covers the additional costs linked to the new production processes. This week a provisional political agreement was reached between the European Parliament and the Council on the European Commission's proposal for stronger rules on ambient air, surface and groundwater pollutants, and treatment of urban wastewater. Clean air and water are essential for the health of people and ecosystems. Air pollution alone means nearly 300,000 Europeans die prematurely each year, and the new rules will reduce deaths resulting from levels of the main pollutant PM2.5 above World Health Organization guidelines by more than 75% in ten years. Across air and water, all of the new rules provide clear return on investment thanks to benefits in health, energy savings, food production, industry, and biodiversity. This is a key advance for the European Green Deal's zero pollution ambition of having an environment free of harmful pollution by 2050. #urban #wastewater #pollution #qualityoflife #impactinvesting #cleanair #energysaving #biodiversity #health #circularity #greendeal
