A U.S. judge in Texas blocked a climate rule of the Biden administration, requiring states to decline greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles using the national highway system. Texas had sued the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) in December, arguing the agency lacked legal authority to enact the rule. A separate lawsuit was filed by 21 other states. In a decision issued late on Wednesday, U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, said he agreed with Texas in its case that "the rule was unauthorized." https://lnkd.in/d2_JAcFj When people do not decline emission in transportation the results often looks like this picture - this is how looks like the expansion of the higway i-45 wich will destroy many houses. As we have already written the blame should be putted on wars which enforce fossil fuel lobby, delete climate change from headlines, on GDP based system which sideline sustainable transportation. This system is also probably linked to the top-down approach. If all the efforts wasted on forcing those who not want were spent on helping those who WANT - the other 28 states, cities, districts suffering from traffic congestion, including inside states like Texas, maybe situation was better.

Without the powers and the necessary funding to deliver their ambitious climate targets, councils are increasingly limited in what they can do improve local climate action. “By betting on a public tired of stringent climate policies, the government is backing the wrong horse.” Yet another reminder that the public support for climate policy in the UK remains strong with almost two thirds backing the most stringent climate policies, with other policies receiving even higher support. But this support varies across the country, particularly for the strictest policies. This is at least in part due to those living in more rural regions with higher emissions having less capacity to change linked to their low access to public transport and heavy reliance on cars. Agree with the conclusion reached by the researchers on supporting a fair transition to rural areas: “More needs to be done to improve public infrastructure in rural areas. This will require investment in affordable, low-carbon transport networks rather than championing the continuation of the combustion engine.”

Ranking our Parties' Climate Change Policies Have you worked out who has the best package of climate-change policies going into the UK election? This is not a trivial question, and I had a crack at it for VoteClimate, by systematically evaluating each of the climate-related policies in the party manifestos, and trying to gauge total impacts on emissions by 2030. During budget negotiations to keep the government open, we must #DefendOurClimate from efforts to rollback key climate and clean energy investments. Our climate and our health is at risk if key agencies and programs are defunded, so we need to ensure we #DontCutClimate.
