We're beyond excited to announce that our No Stuff campaign has been nominated for the Changemakers: Sustainability award in the 2024 Skift IDEA Awards 🥳 Find out why we're saying no to "more stuff" 👇 We discovered that the branded merchandise that we gave away produces almost 6.5m car-driven miles worth of emissions every year. As a travel company with a goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, we knew we had to make a change. In December 2023, we announced that we were no longer purchasing branded merchandise to use as gifts. Instead, we’ll give donations on your behalf to projects that invest in all of our futures, including: 🌿 GreenWave’s Kelp Climate Fund: Every donation will plant 40lbs of kelp which captures and stores carbon. 🌿 Rainforest Rescue's Daintree Project: Every donation will protect 1 square metre of the world’s oldest rainforest. The best part? By December 2024, we’ll have removed a further 1.5m car-driven miles in carbon emissions purely through donations. Isn’t it amazing what a little less stuff can do?

I would not use Insight for any travel. Over promise and well and truly under deliver. We recently travelled to Italy spending around NZD40k and one hotel room was so small we had to put our suitcases on the balcony. While there was an attempt to change rooms on three occasions most occasions ended spending one night in sub standard accommodation. Health and safety was an issue, a similar experience to White Islands eruption in NZ. Meals drew a mixed approach with fighting to get food at buffet breakfasts and extremely substandard food at a number of hotels and restaurants. Their response to these complaints were insulting and finally had some response in late December. One Insight person went the extra mile on one occasion. Insight why not deliver on your promises, why not pay greater attention to quality control ( better auditing of hotels and restaurants) you need to improve your health and safety processes and procedures and strive for improved customer relations - we are your customers and pay your salaries.

Grade 9 students opted for sustainable clothing as a part of Products for our Planet-BA showcase due to their awareness of the prevalent overconsumption of fabric and the resultant waste, a phenomenon they encountered regularly as students. Initially complicit in this cycle before realising its environmental impact, they embarked on a journey to address the issue. Their approach began with a small-scale clothing drive aimed at salvaging garments destined for landfills. Sorting through the donations, they found many items only partially damaged, prompting them to repurpose the fabric into new, high-quality products as a means of reducing waste. Looking ahead to their tenth-grade year, Sahana and Pragyaa plan to launch their products for sale, with proceeds earmarked for charities dedicated to environmental conservation. They aim to reinvest profits into expanding their line of sustainable offerings, driven by a genuine desire to make a tangible difference in the world. #ChangeMakers #ConnectingTheDots #MakingADifference #TheInventureWayOfLearning #TheInventureAdvantage #NewWorld #NewLearning #CarpeDiem

“Exciting News! We’re on a mission to revolutionize the shipping industry with eco-friendly, long-lasting crates—and we need your help to get there! 🚀🌍” Hi LinkedIn family, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve launched a GoFundMe campaign to bring my invention, the Titan Lift Van, to life with my new company called "Melior" (Mel-your) Melior is Latin for 'a better way', and that’s exactly what we’re offering—a better, greener, and more cost-effective way to transport "loose-load" goods. The shipping industry relies on disposable wooden crates called Lift vans , which lead to massive waste, inefficiencies, and environmental harm. Our modular crates, made from 100% recycled polyethylene, are stronger, last longer, and reduce costs for businesses. Most importantly, they contribute to a sustainable future by reducing deforestation and waste. If you believe in a better way for shipping and sustainability, I’d love your support! Every contribution brings us closer to our goal of replacing wasteful wooden crates with a revolutionary solution. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this post or the link with your network would mean the world to me. 💚 👉 https://gofund.me/3d8018d0 Thank you for your support, whether it’s a donation or a share. Together, we can create a better way for shipping and the environment!

🌍🌱 Exciting News! 🌱🌍 I'm thrilled to share that I'm diving back into the topic of sustainability, which I had to put on hold for a bit due to other priorities. Now, I'm joining the volunteer project "Habits for a Better World" organized by Karel Vredenburg, focusing on the impact of food systems on climate change. Yes, you heard right – while most discussions highlight fossil fuels, it's crucial to also address farming, land clearing, and the broader food system's role in climate change. For those who know me, the intersection of food and sustainability has always been a passion. During my master's, I researched this extensively and published a paper on scaling food systems through collaborative design. If interested, you can take a look at it here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dsFgt8jG Since joining IBM three years ago, I've channeled my energy into supporting various sustainability initiatives, including the Climanomics solution with Hodan Saeed and Claudia Dalla Torre, where we explored the impact of food on agriculture and climate change. Now, I'm bringing my passion and design skills to this new project, advocating for better habits and sustainable food systems. As a vegan, I promote a plant-based diet and believe in its potential to reduce our climate impact. Consider this: the total emissions from the food system rise to ~34%, with 16 million square kilometers of land used for crops and 34 million square kilometers for grazing animals. That’s 38% of Earth’s land surface! Animal agriculture alone uses around 29% of Earth’s land, while plant-based agriculture covers just 9%. Shifting even partially towards a plant-based diet can significantly lower our environmental footprint. Let’s make impactful changes together! Check with your 👀 ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/dvue3h_H #Sustainability #ClimateChange #FoodSystems #PlantBased #BetterHabits #VolunteerProject 🌎💚

Where kindness starts 💌 Thompson Packaging Ltd have been helping us to spread the Little Lifts love from the very beginning. Here's how ⬇️ Thompson Packaging kindly donate a portion of our Boxes, offer us a charity discount, and assist us with our ambitious (and sometimes wacky) ideas! Just wait for what next month has in store 🤫 Our gift Boxes are integral to what we do, so it's important that they reflect Little Lifts' values. That's why our all Boxes are kind to the planet 🌎 📦 On average, the board is made from 70% recycled materials. 🌲 All board is FSC approved, supporting responsible forestry. ♻️ All paper waste is sent on to recycling centres, making our Boxes part of the circular economy. 🎨 Our Boxes use water-based inks so that solids can be separated from the water before disposal. Where possible, the ink supplier uses natural pigments. ☀️ Solar panels are installed at the Thompson Packaging site and their team drive hybrid vehicles. 'All of this has contributed to us receiving the gold standard in the Carbon Charter for 2024, something we are very proud of.' - Alice, Thompson Packaging Over the past 6 years, this family run business has helped us to gift over 18,000 Boxes to support people affected by breast cancer. For that, we cannot thank you all enough 🥰 Click to read more: https://bit.ly/3W3msw3 #BreastCancer #CorporateSocialResponsibility #NorfolkBusiness #MakingADifference
