We were excited to host four business briefing sessions across the Riverina in NSW last week, which gave us the opportunity to engage with interested individuals and businesses, on the proposed The Plains Renewable Energy Park project. At the briefings we discussed the potential jobs, skills and equipment required for the construction of the project. ENGIE is committed to prioritising opportunities for local employment and the use of local First Nations businesses where possible. If built at full size, the Plains would have a generating capacity of up to 1,900 megawatts (MW), which is the equivalent of powering up to 1.17 million average NSW homes. #ThePlains #WithENGIE #ENGIE Image Credit: Krista Schade/ The Riverine Grazier

The biggest clean energy project in U.S. history just raised $11 billion and started construction Summary: The SunZia wind farm, recognized as the largest clean energy project in U.S. history, has made a significant leap forward by securing $11 billion in financing and commencing construction. This ambitious project by Pattern Energy Group includes a 3.5 gigawatt wind farm in New Mexico and a 550-mile transmission line to Arizona. Pattern Energy, acquired by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in 2020, achieved this milestone after overcoming regulatory hurdles and approval processes spanning over 17 years. The project's scale and duration to approval underscore the challenges faced in building transmission lines in the U.S., particularly due to regulatory complexities, local landowner objections, and environmental conservation concerns. The SunZia project's initiation is a critical step in addressing the need for extensive transmission infrastructure to support the transition to renewable energy sources like wind and solar. #CleanEnergy #SunZiaWindFarm #RenewableEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #PatternEnergyGroup #WindPower #GreenInfrastructure #EnergyTransition #EnvironmentalConservation #USCleanEnergyInitiative #SustainableInvestment #ClimateAction https://lnkd.in/gdM7M_gh

Over the past decade, Queensland has seen 55 large-scale projects either operational, under construction or financially committed to. These include diverse technologies like: • Solar farms capturing the abundant sunshine that bathes our state and generates clean energy directly from it. • Wind farms harnessing the power of the wind and converting kinetic energy into clean electricity. • Battery storage, which plays a crucial role in integrating renewables into the grid, battery storage solutions ensure a stable and reliable energy supply, even during periods of low wind or sunshine. • Pumped hydro utilising the power of gravity to store energy by pumping water uphill during periods of low demand and releasing it back downhill through turbines to generate electricity during peak demand periods. The geographic spread of these projects is strategically distributed across the state, with renewable energy development occurring almost everywhere. This ensures that the benefits of clean energy are distributed equitably, fostering economic growth and job creation in regional communities. Chaired by our very own Leigh Heaney, yesterday's "Making the Planning System Work for 82% Renewables" session delved into the critical challenges and opportunities within NSW's planning framework for large-scale renewable projects. A massive thanks to Iwan Davies for repping David Gainsford, the Deputy Secretary of the NSW Planning Department, who provided a comprehensive view of the current state of project planning and the steps needed to accelerate progress. Pinsent Masons's Kirstie Richards and ITK Services Australia's David Leitch were also on the panel, and highlighted the substantial work required for NSW to catch up with leading states in renewable energy deployment. The panellists emphasized the importance of clear and consistent policy directives, improved regulatory frameworks, and the adoption of best practices from other states and countries that have successfully advanced their renewable energy agendas. We absolutely loved the suggestions we heard, including leveraging digital tools for better project tracking, fostering stronger collaboration between government and industry, and ensuring that community and environmental considerations are integrated early in the planning stages to avoid delays. We know this is a session that was anticipated by many, and it didn't disappoint! 🤝 Here's to paving the way for a smoother transition to 82% renewables! #SmartEnergy #NSWPlanning #sustainability #energytransition

☀️ Navigating the Path to Clean Energy: insights from Last Week’s Announcement ☀️ Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has unveiled the solar SunShot program, a $1 billion initiative aimed at propelling Australia’s solar panel industry forward. Launching at the retried Liddell coal plant in NSW’s Hunter Valley. Albanese stated “A Vision for Australia that sees renewable energy, powering advanced manufacturing here, to produce more in Australia. Powered by clean energy positioning ourselves to be a renewable energy Superpower for the world.” This program aims to accelerate Australia’s transition towards renewable energy, whilst also creating economic growth and more jobs for Australians. “This is about us seizing the opportunities that are there to have a Future made in Australia,” Albanese commented. However, some people feel that the points made in this announcement were contradicted by the mode of transport, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Energy Minister Chris Bowen opted to get to the announcement. The ministers opted to take 2 SEPARATE chartered jets to travel from Canberra to Muswellbrook in the Hunter region of NSW. “The runway at Scone wasn’t strong enough to take a large jet so the air force took the decision for two small jets,” Bowen advised. While logistical challenges may have been factored into the decision-making process, using private jets sparked debate, particularly given the context of promoting environmental sustainability and relying on modes of transportation with significant carbon footprints. #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #SolarEnergy #EnergyTransition #FutureOfEnergy #EnergyEfficiency #CarbonFootprint #energy #electricity #energyprices #electricityprices #energypricerises #energypricehikes #energypricesaustalia #energysavings #energyexperts #business #energybrokers #energynews #energybills #gas #businessenergy #energyprocurement #energymarket #energydeals #energycontracting #energypricing (Image from 2GB via Facebook)

The Garden State has given the green light to two ground-breaking offshore wind projects, further solidifying its commitment to lead in the renewable energy space. Learning from past concerns about being too close to shore, New Jersey’s Board of Public Utilities has chosen two projects, Leading Light Wind and Attentive Energy, that will be considerably further offshore - Together, these projects are set to generate enough electricity to power 1.8 million homes! Despite challenges last fall, the approval of these projects signals a resurgence in New Jersey’s offshore wind ambitions. The board has outlined the cost impacts, with a monthly increase for residential, commercial, and industrial bills. However, Leading Light Wind promises direct assistance to low-income households, mitigating the impact for them. In summary, this is a decisive step toward embracing renewable energy and securing a brighter future for New Jersey!
