I just learned about the Monty Hall Problem and it seemed pretty much amazing to me. I am just a bit confused with it. So, according to the problem we are on a game show, and we are given the choice of three doors: Behind one of them is a car and behind the others are goats. We start by picking one of the doors. After our selection, the host, who knows what's behind the doors reveals one of the other two doors that has a goat. Now we are asked if we want to change our mind or stay with our initial pick. According to Probabilities, if we don't swap and keep our first selection we get (1/3) 33.3% chance of winning the car since the elimination of the door that was opened by the host doesn't affect the probability of our door having the car which remains 33.3% 33.3% as it is at the initial problem. On the other hand, if we switch the door with the other one left, then we get (2/3) 66.6% chances of winning the car since only two doors are remaining and the fact that the host revealed a goat in one of the unchosen doors changed nothing about the initial probability of our door having the car. Till this point it makes pretty much sense to me. But what about assuming we pick the gate which has the car behind. What do you do then? #montyhallproblem

We're thrilled that Justin Sevakis at AnimEigo has selected "Time of EVE" for Blu-ray release in December 2024! Accurately called the "Complete Collection," the release will include the movie and original six-episode ONA series (which have long been out of print), plus director Yoshiura Yasuhiro's short films "Pale Cocoon" and "Aquatic Language" and other bonus goodies. "Time of EVE" came out in 2007... For anime industry veterans, it takes you back, huh? Directions founder Tom Nagae decided to bootstrap the six-episode ONA and self-publish the Blu-ray, which Shawne Kleckner put on the Righstuf store and helped us find our overseas fanbase. At a time when the industry was still very domestically focused, we were thrilled to be among the first to license content to Crunchyroll (shout out to Rob Pereyda 🔜 Gamescom and Vince Shortino). Those fans generously funded the Kickstarter Blu-ray release (thank you Michael Sinterniklaas and Sheh, Stephanie for the brilliant dub and Andrew Partridge for distribution advice). This convergence of fan support, newly emerging streaming platforms, and Blu-ray/DVD sales (plus, some old-fashioned risk taking) gave director Yasuhiro Yoshiura the creative freedom to explore near-future SF questions about AI, friendship and artistry... themes that he has returned to throughout his career. And, I think it's safe to say, we've caught up with the near future. "Time of EVE" is perhaps Yoshiura's time capsule gift that invites us to re-examine not so much technology itself, but rather our own choices (and humanity?) when using technology. https://lnkd.in/gierSaaR
