With today’s offshore wind project selection from SouthCoast Wind, Avangrid, and Vineyard Offshore, Massachusetts is lengthening its lead in the offshore wind industry while creating thousands of good-paying, union jobs. This is a huge win for our economy and clean energy future.

Together with Rhode Island, we're delivering more clean energy, more jobs, and more federal funds to New England. This collaboration maximizes benefits for Massachusetts families and businesses as the offshore wind industry grows and thrives in our state.

Massive offshore wind news! Today, Massachusetts and Rhode Island selected over 2,878 MW from three offshore wind projects — enough to power 1.4 million homes in the state! This is the largest offshore wind selection in New England history. 

The clean energy transition won’t leave our local workers behind. The heroes of the clean energy transition will be union workers.    With each new project, we’re adding more good-paying, union jobs, training programs, and educational opportunities to build out Massachusetts’ skilled clean energy workforce.    The Salem Port Offshore Wind Terminal Project Labor Agreement will deliver:  ✅ 30% workers from Essex and Middlesex Counties  ✅ 20% apprentices  ✅ 20% BIPOC representation  ✅ 8% women in the workforce    Agreements like this boost local economies and set our projects up for success.
