I’m thrilled to welcome Jeffrey (Jeff) Metcalf to CLEAResult as our new Vice President and General Manager of Energy Sustainability Services. With over 30 years of experience in energy management, including his tenure at Johnson Controls and Ameresco, Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge in sustainable energy solutions and a proven track record in driving growth. Jeff will lead our Energy Sustainability Services team, which includes Strategic Energy Management, Decarbonization, Energy Projects, Testing & Certification, and Energy Consulting Services. With the escalating climate crisis, these solutions are more critical than ever. We're excited to leverage Jeff’s expertise to drive innovation and expand our market reach.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), working alongside Energetics, has released a request for information (RFI) as part of its Energy Efficiency Scaling for Two Decades (EES2) initiative, which aims to increase the overall energy efficiency of semiconductor applications by a factor of 1,000 over the next two decades. Semiconductors consume enormous and growing amounts of energy, largely via computing and communications. By 2030, computing alone could consume nearly 20% of planetary energy production. The RFI seeks feedback on the EES2 initiative and a draft R&D roadmap that accompanies the RFI. The roadmap was a cross-sector effort, synthesizing the insights of industry, academia, and national labs. It was informed by a series of 10 working group meetings facilitated by Energetics staff, who also assisted with literature review, writing/editing, and graphics development. I'm pleased to announce the release of Request for Information for The Energy Efficiency Scaling for 2 Decades (EES2) roadmap. I have personally worked on this roadmap with my colleagues from Energetics and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and I'm thrilled to share this news! I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the incredible and talented individuals from industry, academia, and national labs who contributed to this roadmap. EES2 is a national initiative aims to get chips and other semiconductor industry products back on the path of doubling energy efficiency every two years to increase the economic competitiveness of American microelectronics manufacturers and strengthen domestic clean energy supply chains. DOE’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Office (AMMTO), part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy has announced a Request for Information to solicit public comments on its EES2 initiative and its draft EES2 R&D Roadmap. AMMTO is seeking information and expertise in three different categories, including Category A: EES2 initiative goals and objectives; Category B: Roadmap document; and Category C: Process and future steps. Just recently found out a report I was lead author of through Energetics is now up on the Department of Energy’s website. So much of my technical-editing work occurs behind the scenes or as part of a much bigger team, so it was fun to come into this project and write a full draft from just the initial working-group discussions. Had stellar research and editing support. Possibly the hardest writing task I’ve done—exploring potential AI roles in carbon conversion—and really proud of final result.
