Very sad news for the dogs stuck in rescue... but confusingly, good news that there will be a judicial review. So obviously room for doubt that the Gov has got this wrong, but still no pause on the killing. I guess the only thing left is civil disobedience - for every vet to stick to their oath and moral code and just say they will not kill those dogs trapped in rescue. If there was enough doubt for a judicial review, how can the mass slaughter of these poor innocent dogs be still allowed to happen? People in rescue and vets should not have to deal with this. It's morally wrong to kill these innocent dogs. If the soldiers in the gas chambers had only had the courage to say no... We all must just say "no". We won't kill for Coffey and Rishi. If any vet feels forced to do it - only do it live on camera, show the happy dogs, gentle, sweet dogs before and the piles of body bags after. Wear face coverings if you like so you are not identified. Make it very real for those legislators that made this heinous decision to slaughter the homeless dogs. Don't let this be the Gov's dirty little secret. If innocent dogs have to die make sure we catalogue it and keep that list and remember and honour them every New Year's Eve. Never forget this terrible wrong. Unite rescues - say no.

Dog owners: a quick reminder. If you live near natural desert areas, TURN OFF THE BACKYARD PATIO LIGHTS AT NIGHT. This includes automatic solar lights, etc. The lights attract insects, creating an irresistible feeding station for toads of all kinds. This includes the highly poisonous Sonoran Desert Toad, which is responsible for more dog deaths in Arizona each year than rattlesnakes. If you are concerned about visibility issues, get some cheap flashlights and place them near doorways. At our home in Cave Creek, for example, we installed small shelves next to doorways that always have a few charged flashlights on them. This is just one of the things that you can do to take preventative action to protect your pets. Just like with rattlesnakes: the toad being in your yard is a symptom; focus on the real problem.

Pets left outside in extreme temperatures, especially without food or shelter, are at risk of hypothermia, frostbite and even death.
