Step 1 of arriving at your premise: Write something that may change your life Do you want to write something truly meaningful? Something that resonates deeply within you? Something that touches the lives of others? Write something personal. Something that has the power to change your life. This is no small task. It requires introspection, self-exploration, and a willingness to dig deep into your core values and beliefs. Know your foundations. Let your feelings bleed onto the page. Write something that shakes you to your foundations. List everything you are passionate about. Stories, Genres Themes, Characters, without judgment without censorship Let your imagination run free. List all the story premises you've ever thought of, Express each premise in a single sentence. This exercise forces you to clearly define your ideas and view them together. Compare your passion and premise. Look for recurring patterns and themes. Your vision will emerge from this exercise. Use this self-knowledge to develop a premise that intersects with your passion. The most impactful stories are raw, honest, and original. They take us on an emotional journey that transforms us. Any story premise can change your life if you pour your original self onto the page. Write from the heart. Pour your vision boldly. The story will change you. It could impact someone else undergoing a similar revelation. Dream big. Mine your soul. Challenge yourself. (YOUR STORY) Only you can tell your story, Your the main character, Only you know the twist and plots to your life. You can define how you want your life to be. So today start to write your story about your life and how you want it to be and not how others want it to be for you. Carve out the lifestyle that you want, Dream about exactly how you want to live. The money you want to accumulate, The car you want to drive, The type of husband or wife you want have. See how many live you want to change and the impact you will make in being a difference in someone's life. How to tell your story (without telling your life story) In 2021 I had a problem with my "About" page. I could never figure out how to tell just enough so my story connects to the work. So I'd end up either telling my entire life story, or completely glossing over it. Here are 5 questions that helped me define what was worth saying: 1) What was the initial problem/challenge? Think back to your life before the solution you introduced. What were you struggling with? 2) How did it affect you? List both internal and external struggles. 3) What was the event that sparked the change for you? This can be a quiet event too, like an internal realization or shift. 4) Who/what was your guide? This could be a person or a tool/modality that helped you move through the block(s). 5) What was the result? How have things changed for the better for you? List both emotional and material benefits. The goal of an 'about' page is not for them to know you. It's for them to make sense of your story and how it connects with them and the work you do.
