Working Parents: Check out this thought-provoking podcast episode diving deep into the intricate web of socio-political, economic factors driving the global decline in birthrates. I especially appreciate the nuanced look at how cultural expectations intersect with workplace demands, especially in the US, shaping the challenges faced by working parents striving to excel both as caregivers and employees - a tension I feel deeply as a working parent myself, and a tension I often hear from my clients struggling with. It's worth a listen. #Parenting #Workingparent #WorkLifeBalance #SocioEconomicTrends

I help leaders support working parents so that they can create a workplace culture that attracts and retains the best people.🏆 I also have some mad toddler-wrangling skills!👩👧👦
Why is paid parental leave important? It is immensely beneficial for new parents for so many reasons. It's good for the baby to get bonding time, it's good for the birthing parent's mental and physical health, and it's good for the non-birthing parent to play an equal part in caregiving from the beginning. It's just good! (Preview of what's to come later this week: It's also good for business!) Hear more about paid parental leave from Allison Whalen, CEO of Parentaly this week on the NextGen Work Culture podcast! 🎤 Episode drops on Wednesday! #PaidParentalLeave #PaternityLeave #MaternityLeave #BondingTime #MentalHealth #NextGenWorkCulture #Podcast #WorkingParents #EmployeeRetention #EmployeeExperience #WorkCulture

Why parental leave is really complicated 👇🏻. 5 years ago I would have told you it was simple. 🤷🏻♀️ Every company should offer split parental leave 🤷🏻♀️ Policies just should be way more generous than it is 🤷🏻♀️ Taking time off doesn’t effect your career Now I am so up close to it I see so many more angles. For small businesses, how do get it right? 👉🏻 You have a moral desire to give as much pay as possible, to match with the crushing financial reality. For individuals, how do you navigate planning and returning? 👉🏻 When jobs move fast the emotional challenges must be huge. For founders, how do you account for your own time? 👉🏻 I had a very honest chat with Matt Kennedy from Fussy on our podcast about this. Now I know I can just try my best. In my businesses: - Primary care-giver and secondary care-giver receives 6 weeks of time off work at 100% pay. - Primary care-givers, 6 further weeks of time off work at 50% pay How do you navigate getting it right in your organisation? ---- ♻️ If you think this is important.
