Can you complete 3,000 squats in 30 days this September? Get ready to squat your way through the month whilst raising funds for life-changing research into bowel cancer and bowel disease for Bowel Research UK!   Every year, over 42,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer, and 1 million people live with a serious bowel condition. By pledging to do 3,000 squats in September, you are raising vital funds for life-changing research into bowel cancer and bowel disease.   3,000 squats in 30 days works out as 100 squats a day, although you can also do less or more during your day – it’s your challenge so make it work for you! You could do them throughout the day, for example, whilst waiting for the kettle to boil; or while you’re cooking dinner! When and where you squat is up to you, just complete 3,000 by 30th September. This #SupporterSunday, we're celebrating Eric Douglin! He's the star of our Christmas appeal – and for good reason. Christmas 2021, Eric found himself in the emergency room with severe abdominal pain. His bowel had ruptured due to diverticulitis, a challenging bowel condition. Matters got serious when this led to sepsis, a life-threatening illness. Before Eric knew it, he was having emergency bowel surgery and waking up with a stoma - a change he didn't get a chance to ready himself for. Eric's worked tirelessly for Bowel Research UK. He's joined our #auguts campaigns, spread awareness for chronic bowel disease whilst raising funds with the World Club Basketball Tournament, and written blogs for our website, sharing his personal experiences and knowledge on diverticulitis and stomas. Did you know that people can live perfectly healthy lives with just one kidney? Living kidney donation is when a healthy person (donor) chooses to give one of their kidneys to someone who needs it (the recipient). If you are over the age of 18 and in good health you can be considered as a living kidney donor. There are several tests you will need to go through to make sure you are healthy enough to donate and that your kidney is a suitable match for the intended recipient. You will not be able to donate if you have had cancer, or if you have diabetes, heart disease or a condition affecting your kidneys. I am being honored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at a special event recognizing outstanding professionals in my community. In accepting this distinction, I have committed to raise money to help the Foundation realize its mission of curing cystic fibrosis (CF) and providing all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives.
