Detecting wildfires from space @ OroraTech

Nearly 200 firefighters are battling a raging wildfire on the Portuguese island of Madeira that started six days ago. The situation is challenging due to strong winds, high temperatures, and low humidity, fueling the fire spread. At OroraTech, our Wildfire Solution has been tracking the fire’s progression from the first hotspots using data from various satellites. Check out the timelapse video below to see how the fire has evolved over the past days. #Wildfire #ClimateTech #Portugal #Madeira Sebastião Agrela

Outstanding work, as always! Modeling and predicting wildfire spread using meteorological data is essential. I've been following you and OroraTech closely—your work is truly inspiring. As a climate change student, I've developed a basic wildfire prediction model that successfully predicted the recent wildfire in Izmir, Turkey, which began on August 13th. This prediction was based on a Sentinel-2 image from August 9th. I'd love the opportunity to discuss this further.
