Huge news for the whole Plantiga crew - we are officially part of the National Basketball Association (NBA) family through their Launchpad program. We will be working closely with the league and the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) on building a first-of-its-kind dataset with insights on how athletes in women’s basketball move on the court - from grassroots players to college to professionals. We will be working to better understand the injury mechanisms, performance demands, loads, and asymmetries that are present in the environments where these athletes compete. We are especially stoked about this work as it’s a tremendous opportunity to advance women’s specific sports science, which is severely lacking in the world of sports. Part of this was triggered by the fact that we passed the NBA’s rigorous third-party validation process. We are now on the approved wearables list! Big shoutout to Taylor Lim Cooper, Leigh Christie, and the whole MistyWest crew for helping us make a best-in-class sensor for measuring human movement in complex environments. Very exciting day for Plantiga - it’s been a journey to become a best in class in-shoe sensor for monitoring Athlete Load, asymmetries and return to play readiness on the field, court and ice. Now Plantiga is a part of the NBA family as a member of their Launchpad. AND, they passed the NBA’s RIGOROUS third party validation test process - this points to an in shoe sensor system you can trust. Final point, Plantiga just adopted a 32 g sensor, ensuring no data is clipped or lost. I’ve said for a while that our biggest blind spot and opportunity are monitoring athletes on the field court or ice. This is especially true after injury where load and asymmetrical loading are culprits for poor performance and reinjury Plantiga gives all the best of GPS - it provides accurate reporting of speed bands and load It gives the best of kinematic analysis- you can extract step by step stride asymmetries and ground contact times And it brings us closer to the sorts of measures we get from dual force plate systems except this is an IMU sensor that fits in any shoe, insole, or cleat Really looking forward to seeing where Plantiga grows from here. #MeasureWhatMatters
