Christmas is often represented as "the most wonderful time of the year" but for many it can be a difficult and particularly stressful time of year 💜💔💜. Please remember that while there are individual, cultural and societal expectations and traditions of what Christmas (and the festive season) should look, feel or be like...there is no right or wrong way to do Christmas. It’s the weeeeekend baby… This little phrase takes me back to my youth and Friday mornings on the Gareth Cliff show on 5 FM. Driving to school with my dad, and then later, on my own, it signaled the start of something fun, fun with my friends, no work or school or varsity. Time to let loose and be carefree.. Now as a parent and husband, Friday mornings still give me those it’s the weeeekend baby, feels! Even though the weekend shenanigans are COMPLETELY different, I still love them. Time with my kids and wife, with an unconstrained mind, we all have this sense of freedom, where anything is possible, we almost give our selves permission to think freely about how we want to spend the next 2 days. For the kids it’s usually centered around some form of takeaway(pizza or McDonald’s) time at the park or beach(all day for both days if possible). For us it’s a later, slower start to the day, and then taking the kids on one of the outings, it’s a nice meal somewhere( not McDonalds), just time together mostly outdoors, involving food and a little bit of wine(or beer). I love that I love weekends, I love the work that I do and how I get to do it, but weekends really give me and my family that feeling that anything is possible. #mindfulliving #wellbeing #fulfillment #livingmybestlife #lifestylefinancialplanning #womeninfinance

*Long Post* For the past month it has been non-stop work as we prepared for go-live with a new system. I'm talking barely sleeping because I'm dreaming about work and stressing over what isn't done. My house was just clean enough to live in and Christmas decorations still hanging around even now. I decided I needed a break post go-live because the exhaustion was real. I took a long weekend and left the state. It was the reset I needed. Reminders from a clearer mind: 1. Be patient and kind because that's what you need, too.  2. It's ok to not know everything right now.  3. Give yourself grace.  4. You earned your spot on this team and you deserve this.

Tips to having a stress-free Christmas holiday 1. Don't exchange Christmas presents with anyone in your household until you’ve created spaces for them. Research shows that the overwhelming amount of clutter after exchanging Christmas presents is linked to the January blues. 2. Having guests over to stay? Prepare the spare rooms a couple of weeks before the big day to save yourself a last-minute rush. 3. Accept people's help. If your visitors offer to wash up or tidy the wrapping paper up, let them do it.
