We discuss encountering DEI during an MBA, being a brown Indian immigrant, how you'd apply DEI logic to children you love, and what's gone wrong with the sincere good intentions of DEI advocates. We draw on the excellent work of Matthew Petrusek to frame the conversation.

"I would love to have a DEI expert point out to me which of my godchildren or nephews I should be giving preferential treatment... and make it analogous to the workplace, and how you know where to draw the line."
"If you're going to impose [diversity and inclusion] you have to draw a line somewhere. Right? And wherever you draw the line it will inevitably be some measure of random, because you could have drawn it somewhere else. And if you could have drawn it somewhere else then why did you draw it where you drew it? That's... just your opinion, and someone else on a different day would have had a different opinion...."
"Did [Jesus] come and say, 'Do whatever you want, whenever you want, and you go to Heaven'? Obviously not! So in a very real sense Christ Himself came with a message of exclusion. You are all welcome to come and change your lives. You are all welcome to come, hear the good news, repent, do these things. And that is open to all, but it isn't open to all and then those who don't do that are also still included. Christianity, by nature, is in some respects actually exclusive."
