The modern workplace is uncomfortable when it comes to mental health services and support. More organizations offer mental health benefits than ever before. Still, these services often need to be utilized more, which not only means employees aren't getting the support they need to thrive but also means organizations are not getting a return on their investment. There are many reasons for workplace mental health services being underutilized, but the root cause often stems from poor uptake and engagement. To address this, companies must ensure that healthcare pathways are easy to find, understand, and access. The more friction involved, the less likely someone will receive care. https://lnkd.in/eCP7sbUy #MentalHealth #HR #CompanyCulture

The focus on Mental Health Awareness has grown substantially since 2020. Significant impacts such as: Residual effects of COVID-19, increase in suicide rates, employee burnout, social determinants of health, etc., have shined a light on the fact that there needs to be more resources and education applied to mental health. Behavioral health policies are being revised and expanded. Reimbursement is moving in the right direction, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement. I think that we can all agree that there is a mental health crisis in this country. There is a lot of talk about it and it's all over the news, but what are we doing about it and can more be done? Yes! More can be done. I'm looking at you Mr./ Mrs. Business Leader. Your employees spend more time with you than they do their own families. I'm telling you this, an EAP program is NOT enough. EAP’s have been around for decades, yet 21% of the U.S. population has diagnosed behavioral health concerns. Yes, I said diagnosed. I don’t even want to know the undiagnosed numbers. As employers, you are losing money by not investing into your employee’s mental health beyond an EAP. Productivity, attendance, engagement, retention, healthcare claims costs and even workplace safety suffer when mental health challenges impact employee readiness. If you are interested in learning more about how you as an employer can better support your employee’s mental well being, shoot me a direct message and let's schedule some time together. USI’s Mind, Body, Money solution is something that you need to hear more about. Your employees, their families, their communities and the P&L of your business will thank you. #HR #CFO #CEO #Businessowner #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters
