What are the key leadership elements that will be crucial for success in the new year, and how can you develop them?
As we begin a new year, it’s helpful to think about the leadership qualities, traits, and skills that will enable our teams and ourselves to achieve New Year’s resolutions.
While there are many factors that can make someone a better leader, the most important are:
*Vision: a guiding compass to maintain direction and reach a shared destination.
*Planning: the roadmap translating visions into achievable milestones.
*Initiative: proactively seeking improvement and being willing to initiate positive change.
*Decisiveness: choosing and plan and implementing it.
*Humility: identifying your strengths and weaknesses in order to leverage others’ strengths to build a stronger team.
*Discerning: objectively weighing difficult decisions and making a tough choice based on organizational needs.
*Recognizing and rewarding: giving positive feedback, appreciating talent, and acknowledging hard work.
*Coaching: identifying and communicating to resolve and reduce errors and correct course.
*Authenticity: building trust by creating genuine connections.
As the New Year kicks off and you form and pursue your personal and professional New Year’s resolutions, what leadership traits are most important to you?
