What do you do to quickly help a client visualize what they are requesting? Navigating the journey from client request to successful project completion can be complex, especially in the AV industry where projects often span months or years and can undergo changes along the way. It's crucial to get it right to avoid costly mistakes. Just as a recording engineer asks a new client to share their favorite music to understand their preferences, an AV consultant must translate client requirements into a detailed design. I've been talking to many AV professionals, and it has revealed how different teams handle this challenge. Some utilize advanced apps that allow you to photograph a room and virtually design it by adding hardware and furniture. Others leverage AI to describe their ideal setup in natural language, instantly generating designs. Some even integrate virtual reality to offer a walk-through experience, helping clients visualize the space and avoid last-minute changes. I talked to someone today who was telling me about all the back and forth and changes that happen once a client realizes what it looks like to have speakers and cables in a room. "Wait, can everything be wireless? Wait, does that equipment rack have to be there?" He mentioned that he might spend two days building a demo design, only to find out that the specifications were wrong. I've worked on plenty of events where the client didn't realize how crowded the room would feel once the screen, stage, speakers, furniture, and scenic elements all came up and we end up making a lot of last minute changes.

When we think of innovation in technology, a display mount may not come to mind. But 8 months after first seeing rp Visual Solutions (rpv) Wallmate LED at #infocomm 2023, and now having had the opportunity to see this solution put into practice in my projects, it's been a game changer. A 135" LED wall on a scissor mount that a single person can pull out changes the way we think about large format display technology, and it's implications for #audiovisual design. I'm constantly on the lookout for trends in how leveraging the latest technology impacts the way we meet and collaborate. Sometimes, that technology is just (well not just) steel behind a display.

Meshed see through video displays from ROE Visual . Indoor or outdoor. As big as you like. 50% see through a window but video presentation. Could try that at Mailbox. Very bright LED. Roe also showcasing 8k high quality panels for virtual studios. They looked very good too. Scale video walls. Video floors. Laptop Gui control, panels are a network to a racked "engine" which sits behind screen. Feed it SDI quality video or high res stills. Screens rig on aluminium staging/wall. Or they hang. Panels mesh together in a modular array. We should hang a big one on the front/back of the BBC site? Impressive visual impact. BBC could push quality lives into them, showcase UHD 8K content, or use them to try to new display and studio formatting. Quick rig and relocate potential so it could move or reconfigure depending on needs. Folks these days are making content for small screen mobile output, but when you see the dynamic and high quality scale outputs, that opens other creative doors possibly.
