🎭 This week brought about a night out with my near teenage son who is a budding architect and huge fan of Kevin Mcloud. We went to the iconic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall for a night with Kevin for his Home Truths tour.
💡 On the way home I asked my son did he have any take aways from the evening:
1️⃣ “I love that Kevin says most of his favourite builds were those which were built near a good pub. I think that would be you mum!” 🤣
2️⃣ “He said design opens up exploration of relationships, design is a process not a catalogue. I want to design original buildings for people who have a dream.”
3️⃣ “Branding obscures the authenticity of a design, the truth of that narrative. I love that you and dad search for something, don’t buy because it’s cheap, look for the back story and only buy once. I want to be like that when I earn money!”
I love that despite feeling completely out of his depth being the youngest in the audience he found the evening both informative but also thought provoking, he also understood the values of the business I run.
Anybody can design, build and produce, but without strong relationships, real authenticity and strong decisions being made in order to make impact, you’ll probably end up not really wanting the end product and ultimately buying again in the very near future.
Happy Friday folks ✅
