One of the most common types of hearing loss is known as high-frequency hearing loss. This means high-pitched sounds are harder to hear. It can affect anyone of any age, but it's more common in older adults with age-related hearing loss, as well as people exposed to loud noises. In older adults, untreated hearing loss is associated with a higher risk of dementia, social isolation, depression and injury-causing falls. The good news? Hearing aids help with these problems. #hearing #audiology 360care.com LEARN MORE: https://lnkd.in/gFqWUvCP

According to the latest reports from the World Health Organization, it is projected that by 2050, nearly 2.5 billion individuals will experience some form of hearing impairment, with approximately 700 million requiring assistance for hearing rehabilitation. Unsafe listening practices put over 1 billion young adults at risk of permanent and preventable hearing loss. Currently, around 430 million people, including 34 million children, need rehabilitation to address disabling hearing loss, which is defined as hearing loss exceeding 35 decibels (dB) in the better ear. By 2050, it is estimated that over 700 million individuals, accounting for 10% of the global population, will grapple with disabling hearing loss. Disabling hearing loss disproportionately affects individuals in low- and middle-income countries, with nearly 80% of those affected residing in these regions. Moreover, the prevalence of hearing loss rises with age, impacting over 25% of individuals older than 60 years. #respekt #personwithdisability #disabilityinclusion #disabilityawareness
