Go green: Our sustainability goals at a glance… But first, let’s take you to the place where sustainability emerges from: in our factories. Today, we invite you to Wittlich, Germany, where Benninghoven develops the most cutting-edge solutions for economical, flexible and environmentally friendly asphalt production. Here, green technology has a green home. Even the manufacturing process of all plant components is as sustainable as can be. To this end, we are also state of the art in all ‘green disciplines’: 🎯 Our factory is designed in accordance with the German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV). 🎯 Economical use of resources: Highly efficient exhaust air purification and energy recovery further ensure environmentally friendly production. 🎯 Zero-liter production: The Benninghoven production manages almost entirely without process water and thus without emitting any industrial wastewater. 🎯 Automatic shading: Prevents high energy consumption in winter for heating and summer for cooling. 🎯 Everything runs on electricity: Exclusive use of electric forklift trucks in the plant. Last week, while on holiday in stunning and green Galicia, Spain, I came across an exciting event: "Beyond the Conference," an open public forum connected to the 10th International Degrowth Conference, happening in #Pontevedra. It was inspiring, and at the same time reassuring, to witness growth in the awareness of Earth's ecological boundaries and the importance of social justice in building a sustainable future for all. The urgency for action resonated further with the closing "Protestival" where passionate academics and activists shared powerful manifestos for #Degrowth, reminding us of our collective responsibility. Then, this week, we woke up with great news of Schneider Electric being named the most sustainable company by TIME among the world's largest and most influential companies. While true sustainability requires a huge systemic transformation and there is no such thing as "most sustainable" (as our planet is in ecological overshoot), this recognition highlights our company's commitment to #decarbonization and environmental impact reduction beyond our own operations. Indeed, it is our everyday job at Schneider Electric Sustainability Business to help our customers minimize their environmental impact across their entire processes and supply chains, supporting them on their decarbonization journey. While most large corporations may not be the ultimate model in a post-growth economy, Schneider Electric's expertise and dedication in #Sustainability, #Efficiency, and #Digitalization, answers the strong societal need for #Electrification, #Renewables, and #EnergyAccess for all. Sustainability and efficiency can be a winning combination 🌱 At our Winter Competence Center of Revello, Italy, in 2023 we achieved important environmental responsibility goals, including investing in a new state-of-the-art Hybrid Bending Machine. This technology has allowed us to obtain significant advantages both in terms of production performance and resources saved. Tangible benefits include: ▫️reduction in diesel consumption ▫️increased operational independence ▫️production optimization ▫️faster processing times Over the course of a year, we saved around 9,000 liters of diesel, corresponding to 83 MWh of energy saving. This result demonstrates that adopting sustainable solutions has been good for our company and for our planet too. Decarbonization and Zignago Vetro. This sustainability-linked commitment of ours is reflected in a dedicated section within our 2023 Sustainability Report.
