We recently talked with Philip Lawrence of Graphic Components about their award winning Vanguard VR5D-E. A couple of weeks ago I shared the first images from my upgraded LED strobe and optics on the Meteor Inkjet Ltd dropwatcher. When trying it out with Matthew Pullen we also compared different lens magnifications and the image below gives an indication of why it is important to choose your optics for the exact DoD problem you are are trying to solve (see what I did there 😉 ) Want to optimise a "tickle pulse" or look for the source of #ink #misting due to #ligament stretches? Working at high magnification or lower frequency can help. But, if you want to see things dynamically across the whole print gap, or compare more nozzles, then using a lower magnification is definitely better since with an expert eye you can still see what is happening at the faceplate.
