This time we are proud to introduce the speakers for the Textile session: 🎤 Peter Koppert, Manager Circular Textiles at MODINT and Stichting UPV textile, will share insights on how we can set the stage for achievable goals, by focusing on the legal perspective of the textile value chain. He is currently focused on exploring and activating the Dutch and international network of circular textile recycling and supply chain innovations, especially on cotton and polyester (blends). 🎤 Carlos Kuhlmann, Associate Lector (Associate Professor) Functional Textiles at Hogeschool Saxion, will bridge the gap between the producers' quest and the EPR responsibility to reuse materials on the one hand, and the demand-driven quality standards that producers are gradually adopting on the other. His current focus is on functional textiles. 🎤 Christian Franke, Head of Project Department at Trützschler Group, will share his insights from a user perspective on demand driven quality standards in the textile value chain. Christian is currenlty working on Fiber to Fiber recycling, which is the most scalable solution for recycling. This applies not only to 100% cotton products, but also to 100% PET products. The session will be moderated by Jasper Martin, Marketing and Sales Manager at Cirmar. This year's program features several parallel sessions, each focusing on different value chains. The presentation by Loris Maestri will focus on RadiciGroup's latest innovations in the European textile value chain. Solutions are designed to increase customer awareness with reliable and transparent tools.  Key aspects of the presentation will include successful best practices in LCA studies of our products, especially under the light of traceability. End consumers will be increasingly attentive to informed choices supported by easily usable data; by providing accurate results calculated through LCA methodology and deriving from a traced supply chain, companies will be able to respond to this need in a timely manner. Traceable products have a double way to ensure their history: physical traceability is boosted by the digital one, which could enable both #textile manufacturers, brands and end-users to choose the most reliable suppliers. Traceability and sustainability are fundamental tools to proceed towards the EU path to a sustainable #textile sector; together and strictly connected to the final products, they will grant reliability and support to consumers’ choices. 🌿 Improving the sustainability of product packaging at L&R! We are proud to share our strategic initiatives to improve the sustainability of our product packaging. In line with our "SUCCESS+2030" strategy, we are committed to 100% recyclability and are working to continuously increase the proportion of renewable resources and materials from circular economy systems. As part of the Komatra competence center and together with the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, a team of colleagues from the packaging sector met, exchanged ideas and brainstormed. 🔄 Our packaging experts at L&R are working on the following exemplary projects: 👉 The analysis of the entire product portfolio with regard to the recyclability of our packaging. 👉 Re-design of our product packaging with the “Design 4 Recycling” tool 👉 Switching to recyclable materials such as monofilm and recycled cardboard. 🌱 We are actively adapting to current regulatory requirements such as the PPWR to advance sustainable practices. 💡 Our customer and market-related projects reflect the growing awareness and requirements for sustainable packaging solutions in the healthcare sector. Exciting News for the Fashion & Textiles Industry! We will be visiting New York and San Francisco at the end of October, to meet and collaborate with others to accelerate the innovations needed to address the most pressing societal and environmental challenges in the fashion and textiles sector. 🌍👗 The University of Leeds is home to the Leeds Institute of Textiles and Colour (LITAC) and the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures. Through research we will drive the transition to a circular economy and inform industry and policy through developing robust, independent academic evidence; also developing and propelling innovations. Our work at LITAC focuses on: • Sustainable Production: Developing low-impact materials, recycling technologies, and eco-friendly production methods to reduce environmental footprints without compromising quality • Reducing Carbon Footprint: Leeds researchers are exploring organic and recycled fibres to lower emissions, reducing reliance on energy-intensive materials like polyester • Minimizing Waste: We're championing circular fashion models, encouraging recycling, upcycling, and the use of biodegradable materials to keep textiles out of landfills • Supporting Ethical Practices: Our work promotes fair and safe working conditions throughout the supply chain alongside environmental improvements.
