As little as 29% of electricity is obtained worldwide from renewable sources. However, to limit global warming to 1.5°C, at least 60% should be reached by 2030. The data comes from the United Nations (UN), which warns of the need to do more and more quickly. Today is the first International Day of Clean Energy, a UN initiative that reinforces the call for active mobilization to increase renewable energy, within the framework of a fair and inclusive transition to clean energy systems. The Navigator Company's energy strategy is an essential part of its 2030 Responsible Management Agenda – a strategic framework aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Company's corporate purpose. Currently, 66% of the electricity produced by Navigator, and 76% of the primary energy consumed, comes from renewable sources. #TheNavigatorCompany #InternationalDayOfCleanEnergy #energy #descarbonization

Thank you to everyone who participated in our December poll which asked "What technology do you think will fast track the energy transition and slash emissions before 2030 to limit global warming to 1.5°C?". With 48 votes overall, here's a glimpse at the results 🔍. Renewable Energy Sources: 63% Electric Vehicles / Transport: 10% Carbon Capture / Storage (CCS): 19% Other (Please Specify): 8% It's heartening to see strong support for renewable energy sources 🌍. This aligns with our commitment to providing low-carbon solutions. Electric vehicles and carbon capture/storage also garnered significant interest 🚗. #MitsubishiElectric #EnergyTransition #GlobalWarming #ClimateChange #LowCarbon #CarbonReduction #EnergyEfficiency

Natural gas is not only key to the energy transition today but is a destination fuel for the future. The primary challenge is methane emissions – the second largest contributor to global warming – which must be reduced 75% by 2030 to achieve net-zero emissions by mid-century. Despite the scale of the challenge, our industry is more than capable of delivering. We have an obligation to act and we have the ability to do it. At Baker Hughes, we're not just talking about change; we're delivering it through our proven portfolio of cost-effective emissions abatement solutions. Check out this insightful article in World Pipelines, where Olivier Pellerin, Federica Furcas and Raman Hanjra from Baker Hughes discuss reducing methane emissions across the natural gas value chain through Integrated Compressor Line (ICL) technology, drawing on a case study showcasing the ICLs in operation. 🔗 Read the full article here https://lnkd.in/d9PyPnsw 🔗 Learn about our emissions abatement work here https://lnkd.in/dPEvh3Ba #EnergizeChange #GasTechnology #EnergyTechnology #NetZero #ReduceMethaneEmissions #ClimateTech #WeAreBakerHughes

RENEWABLE ENERGY is energy derived from natural sources that are constantly being replenished, such as wind, sunlight, the flow of moving water, and geothermal heat. In contrast to energy sourced from fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas, which accounts for 75 percent of the harmful greenhouse gas emissions that are causing climate change, energy from renewable sources is cheap, clean, sustainable, and generates more jobs. Transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy in all sectors – power, heating and cooling, transportation, and industry – is key to addressing the climate crisis. To stay under 1.5°C of global warming, the world needs to immediately phase out fossil fuel use and undergo a profound transformation of the energy system through rapid electrification and sourcing energy from renewable sources. In 2022, renewable sources provided 29 percent of global electricity. With the right investments, electricity from renewable sources could provide 65 percent of the world’s total electricity supply by 2030. #renewableenergy #fossilfuel #renewablesources
