🚨 New study released 🚨 Widespread deployment of Innovative grid technologies can accelerate the expansion of both distribution and transmission grids. Achieving a net-zero industrial sector requires a bold, multidimensional approach. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced $121 million to decarbonize America’s industrial sector through a two-pronged research, development, and pilot demonstration strategy: Cross-Sector Technologies FOA: $38M to drive innovation for the cross-sector technologies required to create a clean energy economy. Energy-and Emissions-Intensive Industries NOI: $83M to decrease emissions in the hardest to decarbonize industrial subsectors. The projects selected for both opportunities will advance the goals of the DOE Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap, and two of DOE’s Energy Earthshot Initiatives—the Industrial Heat Shot™ and the Clean Fuels & Products Shot™. Sonia Quiterio, Conrad Energy’s New Business Director, is speaking at Regen’s Electricity Storage Network’s Winter Conference on 15 November. "I’m looking forward to debating the most pressing questions facing the storage industry and discussing the key challenges shaping its exciting future as a part of a zero-carbon world," said Sonia. The sold-out conference serves as a platform for engagement between key industry players and policymakers. They’ll be debating what’s needed to attract the billions of investments required for this crucial asset class – from supportive policy and regulatory frameworks, shifting revenue strategies, and evolving business models. It is now well-understood that Grid-scale electricity storage is critical to a zero-carbon energy system. Nationally, there are now over 2.7 GW and 3.3 GWh of battery storage operational and further GWs are in construction phases. Sonia has been invited to join the panel discussion, “Unblocking the energy storage pipeline in GB”. Mike Ryan, commercial director at Constantine Energy Storage, is chairing what should be a very interesting discussion covering the implications of rapid growth, how much of the pipeline will actually be built and where the greatest opportunities may lie at a time of frequency response saturation.
