At McGill University - Desautels Faculty of Management, post-doctoral fellow Christopher Luederitz and Professor Animesh Animesh tested different messages that could convince SMEs to go green. As a trailblazer in the construction industry, Gretchen has not only shaped the field in the U.S., but she also made Australia a second home, continuing her influential work here. Gretchen's career in construction is impressive. She’s a strategic advisor and change agent; and now also a dedicated leadership expert who is constantly evolving. Instead of resting on her laurels after significant achievements, she pivoted to focus on leadership development, encouraging construction businesses to think strategically about diversity, equity, and inclusion. It's easy to see how her passion for empowering women in construction resonated with me and it's no wonder IWF Australia brought us together! 🙏🏻 Gretchen also talked about intimidation and insecurity in a way I found inspiring. More so, she was unafraid to talk about power. It’s a bit of a dirty word in leadership sometimes, but she spoke so persuasively about what using power for good looks like. She’s writing a book (set to release in 2025 #watchthisspace), and asked me to contribute my thoughts on power. I told her that "Yes, power can corrupt but it is also the force that drives change. Without power, progress stalls." It will be an incredible work, and I’m humbled to play a small part in it, especially for someone as powerful as her.
