I've found a new guilty pleasure... ...watching drone fails - usually through baited breath and my hands over my eyes. 🫣 Of course some are hilarious, but others can actually be pretty shocking and ridiculous. In all honesty, I'm not entirely surprised with most of the amateur hobbyist fails, but its the commercial, so-called "professionals" in these videos that blow my mind. 🤦♂️🤯 Accidents happen, unforeseen circumstances can take you by surprise - I've been there, and its awful. But the vast majority of these fails are the result of negligence, a lack of planning, and most of all - lack of experience. Here are a couple of takeaways from these fails: ✅ Always plan a safe take-off and landing point (TOLP) - no catching in hands or on moving vehicles! ❌ Don't fly near animals and wildlife. ✅ Always maintain a safe distance from subjects ❌ Don't add incompatible payloads to the drone - that includes humans! ✅ Always maintain visual line of sight! (VLOS) Have a spotter to keep an eye on the drone. ❌ Don't fly drones indoors unless you are an experienced pilot (flying FPV for example) and have a cage (during surveys and scans) ✅ Be aware of local hazards all around the drone - research the site and complete a RAMS and flight plan ❌ Don't be an idiot! I could go on and on... Comment below what else should be on this list. ⬇ Ensure that your drone pilot is competent, safe, and experienced. Ask for examples of their previous work, RAMS, and flight plans. Contact us at www.harbourdrones.co.uk to find out more. 📲 https://lnkd.in/e_hpb4TK

Just starting out as a Drone Pilot? Here are 3 tips you should know! 1. Learn the basics: Familiarize yourself with the drone's manual and the fundamental principles of flight. Understand how to operate your drone safely, including its controls, features, and any regulations in your area regarding drone flying. 2. Practice in open spaces: Start flying your drone in open areas with minimal obstructions to avoid accidents. Master basic maneuvers such as takeoff, landing, hovering, and flying in different directions before attempting more complex flights. 3. Respect regulations: Be aware of local drone laws and regulations. Follow safety guidelines, such as maintaining line of sight, flying below-specified altitudes, and avoiding restricted areas. Additionally, respect people's privacy and property while flying your drone. Did you find this helpful?
