Like many, I have a personal connection to blood cancer. I have been fortunate to be able to contribute to the fight along side many amazing scientists, educators, caregivers, and patients. As a blood cancer community, we've made significant progress over the years, as shown in the inspiring chart below from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, illustrating the 5-year relative survival rate by year of diagnosis. Despite this progress, over 150 people still lose their fight daily in the US to blood cancers. Thanks to all those who keep pushing for more #breakthroughs and for the progress being made in #immunotherapies, #targetedtherapies and #diagnostic and #prognostic tools to guide treatment and improve outcomes for all those affected. Despite advancements, T-ALL patients facing resistance or relapse still confront poor outcomes. Lung cancer affects 1 in 14 men and 1 in 17 women, yet receives less funding than other major cancers, contributing to a low five-year survival rate of 15%. It causes more deaths than breast, prostate, and colon cancers combined. Notably, 10-20% of cases occur in non-smokers. Every 2.5 minutes, someone is diagnosed with lung cancer. Increased funding and research are urgently needed to improve outcomes.
