LinkedIn is now showing that I have started a new position as Principal Engineer at Trend Health Partners. This isn't a job change -- Trend Health Partners merged with Advent Health Partners and is now (drum roll...) Trend Health Partners! As for the name, it's an even split: "Trend Hea" came from Trend, and "lth Partners" came from Advent.
My job title is now Principal Engineer. At Trend, this is a VP-level technical position and is a better fit for what I do than my previous title of "Senior Application Architect". While architecture is definitely a part of my job, my main role is to be the Solver of Hard Problems, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and DevOps. So far, the acquisition is treating me well. I continue to enjoy having my hands in lots of areas. While I'm leading infrastructure, I am actively involved in CAVO architecture, many aspects of data (database design, data architecture, data lake), development and software infrastructure, and enough IT to keep my hands dirty. My role is shifting a little more toward leadership in the traditional sense (as it has been many times in the past), but I'm happy to report that I still have plenty of hands-on work to do. There is more than one way to be a force multiplier!
Mergers and Acquisitions bring change and uncertainty, but they also bring opportunity. For the foreseeable future, I'm eager to try out some new skills and to grow my career in a slightly different direction. My day-to-day job has changed a bit from Advent, but I've kept most of my responsibilities, and I'm going to stay on the train for a while longer! As I get to know Trend's new leadership, I'm hopeful that it can stay a great place to work as it grows, and I'm going to do my part to make that true.
I may be hiring for an infrastructure ("DevOps" -- infrastructure automation, CI/CD, etc.) position. Recruiters need not contact me about this as we are already working with someone, but if you're an individual job applicant who is interested in talking about it, drop me a note.
