#classroomstories Role of a Shadow Teacher in classroom engagement Today's classroom dynamics are more diverse than ever. Educators now work with students with varying levels of knowledge, challenges, and distinct needs. In many schools that I have seen, only a few have incorporated shadow teachers into their classrooms, but those that do have seen remarkable benefits. Shadow teaching involves having a dedicated professional work alongside students with special needs or students who experience learning difficulties. This approach is essential in today’s diverse educational landscape, where personalized support can make all the difference. Shadow teachers provide one-on-one assistance, help manage behavioral issues, address bullying and other disciplinary issues, help maintain decorum, allowing the primary teacher to focus on the subject. Incorporating shadow teachers promotes inclusion and equity, making sure no student is left behind. Not to mention, it helps the subject teacher as well.
