I know that you're passionate about medical affairs, right? That's your role, your driving change in work. Some say that medical affairs should be at the center of development, should be at the center of commercialization efforts. Do you see it the same way? I think that this partnership, this strategic alliance is really important in terms of the role that medical has within pharma companies. We're seeing more and more again that professionalization of medical affairs. And for the company to be ultimately successful, you have to have a strong relationship between medical, clinical and commercial. The three need to work hand in hand. Critically important would you say this is the ambition of medical affairs to take a more strategic leadership role. I like that you use the term leadership and this is where we see medical affairs organizations stepping up and taking on that leadership role in many ways being a conduit or an intermediary between commercial and clinical. It's a role that I think medical is able to fill uniquely well and really important for the success of the company. When it comes to stakeholder engagement for example, we see across the industry companies being at a very different maturity level, right. So to have functions working together, collaborating, sharing data is a challenge. How do you go about that in Mark? What I'll first say is that an enterprise wide approach is really important to us within. Merck Medical Affairs, one of the things that we're attempting to get after is A1 company approach as it pertains to our customers, our external customers, our shared customers especially. Having that enterprise wide deliberateness is really important to us and the technology that we have in partnership with Viva is helping us get after some of those opportunities. Do you think the customers are also benefiting from this? Do they feel the difference do you think? My hope, and I, and I think this is true, is that they feel more deliberateness behind how we engage with them. So that means that we're focused on the data scientific exchange versus the technology that helps enable that, which is really what we'd like to see.

Keeping up with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) is even more complicated with the addition of Digital Opinion Leaders (DOLs). Most everyone can agree with that. The poll question from last week was: Who is responsible for Social Listening in #Pharma. 81% of you said it's a combo of #MedicalAffairs AND Marketing. 9% feel that Medical Affairs should take the lead. 7% voted for Marketing.
