New product: 1998 ASPC by Mark Tinsky, Sandblasted Bent Apple Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates - $180 The American Smoking Pipe Company was founded in 1978 by artisans Mark Tinsky and Curt Rollar. Tinsky and Rollar’s venture was part of a new wave of North American hand made pipe making that emerged in the 1970s and ’80s, including artisan carvers such as Mike Butera, Tim West, Elliot Nachtwalter and Jorg Jemelka. Despite the name, American Smoking Pipe Co. was not a factory or large scale operation, but a simple pipe workshop and name shared between friends. Rollar departed the company in 1990, after which Tinsky remained at the reins into the 2000s, before selling his pipes under his own name. I find this pipe from Rollar and Tinsky’s American Smoking Pipe Company, made after Rollar’s departure, to be a fitting example of that transitional period in Tinsky’s career between the split with Rollar and the establishment of the contemporary Tinsky catalog. On the one hand, it shows a movement toward the more classical shapes that define the majority of Tinsky’s contemporary output; on the other hand, it has a rough-and-ready aesthetic more in line with the spirit of Tinsky’s – along with other carvers of his generation – rise in the 1980s. It is both elegant and eminently utilitarian – a smoking machine with more than a touch of class. The condition is excellent. There is perhaps a touch of rim darkening, though the pipe’s dark burgundy stain makes this difficult to judge, but nothing I would consider major. The pipe also comes with its original leather sleeve. Details: Length: 5.5″ / 139.7mm Bowl Width: 0.86 / 21.84mm Bowl Depth: 1.42″ / 36.06mm Weight: 2.1oz / 60g 👉🏽👉🏽Pipe Link: https://nuel.ink/lHdk4c #pipesmoking #pipes #tobaccopipe #pipesmoker #pipetobacco #tobacco #smokingpipe #briarpipe #briar #smoking #pipemaker #pipecollector #artisanpipes #mbsd

New product: Preben Holm Deluxe Matt Smooth Pot Estate Briar Pipe Though he would tragically pass away at the age of 42, Preben Holm was one of the pioneering figures in the ‘Danish design’ movement in 20th century pipe-making – a movement that still dominates the high-grade pipe scene. By hand-shaping his pipes on a belt sander, Holm was able to make the most of the patterns of grain hidden within briar, creating spectacular works of pipe art that looked just as good as they smoked. Owing to Holm’s untimely passing, his pipes are even more highly sought after than they were during his lifetime. This pipe from Preben Holm is quite distinct even relative to Holm’s styles, given that it is far more traditionally inclined than many of his pipes. Make no mistake, it was still hand-shaped rather than turned on a lathe, but it is still not far off from the classic English-French pot. It’s also smaller and lighter than most of Holm’s output, and veteran smokers may even find it comfortable enough to clench. For those that don’t find it light enough for clenching, it is still a highly ergonomic design – as the classics usually are – and one that shows off a veritable bouquet of bird’s-eye and cross grain patterns. The condition is good. The pipe does have some handling marks, and the rim is a little darkened from past use, but these are superficial imperfections that will not affect the pipe’s stellar smoking properties. Details: Length: 5.5″ Bowl Width: 22.1mm Bowl Depth: 1.4″ Weight: 1.9oz / 46g 👉🏽👉🏽Pipe Link: https://nuel.ink/3qkS2D #pipesmoking #pipes #tobaccopipe #pipesmoker #pipetobacco #tobacco #smokingpipe #briarpipe #briar #smoking #pipemaker #pipecollector #artisanpipes #mbsd

What does "W" mean in "21W Corduroy"? It's the "wale" count! This refers to the number of ridges per inch in the fabric. In the case of "21W", the corduroy has 21 ridges per inch. The wale count is essential in determining the texture and appearance of the corduroy, with higher counts resulting in finer and denser fabric. Lower counts, on the other hand, create a coarser texture. So, next time you're shopping for corduroy, keep in mind the importance of the "W" in the fabric terminology! #fabricterminology #corduroy #texturedfabric

New product: BBB Select 304 Smooth Bent Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, Unsmoked ‘BBB’ originally stood for ‘Blumfeld’s Best Briars’, so named after Louis Blumfeld after he took over the historic Alfred Frankenau Company in 1856. Later, the pipes came to be known as ‘Britain’s Best Briars’. Though the name might have changed, the quality of the pipes did not – they really were fantastic pipes, made in the classic style of the English-French shape chart. Like GBD, Dunhill, and Barling’s, BBB are pipes with a rich history behind them, proudly holding the title of “the oldest trade mark in the [pipe] industry.” ‘Select’ series of pipes typically indicate a higher grade offering from a make. This rule would appear to hold for BBB, if this particular pipe is anything to go by. It is a very traditional bent billiard in the English style, but it also has beautiful grain patterns, especially the bird’s-eye around the bowl. The stain is light and natural, which allows these patterns to shine through, and the design is completed by two golden bands and a simple, vulcanite stem. Judging by the brass ‘BBB’ rondelle in the stem, along with the nomenclature, I would estimate that this BBB was made before 1980 and before the make’s merger with Cadogan Investments – giving it a little extra collector’s value. The pipe is also completely unsmoked and comes with its original box and sleeve. What more could one want? ❌ PROBLEMS WITH SEAT COVERS (and what we do about it) PROBLEM NO. 1 OF 9: A lot of seat covers suck to install. If you think about it this way, the ones that DON’T suck to install are the ones that fall off pretty easy. Some TigerTough sets won’t be a breeze (we’re looking at you, part # 65516. 👀 Chevy made life hard), but we’ve worked our tails off to make sure that it’s as easy as possible while still fitting how they should. ➡️ No knots. No plastic buckles. No slip locks. If there are strings involved, we use the StringLock. Everything else secures with fabric straps and hook & loop (think Velcro) fastener. ➡️ Backs, bottoms, and headrests are separate pieces, so you can work on one section at a time and get a great fit. ➡️ When we design new covers, we create an install guide for that part that’s specific to how that set installs. ➡️ There’s a very fine line between covers that fit well and feeling like you’re putting five pounds of potatoes in a four-pound sack. We tip-toe right down that line. Johnny Cash would be proud. #TigerTough #SeatCoversThatWork #SeatCoverProblemsSeries
