Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom and a Call for Progress As we celebrate the delayed emancipation of enslaved people in Texas this Juneteenth, it's crucial to remember the historical context. The fact that Black Texans weren't informed of their freedom for months after the Emancipation Proclamation highlights the systemic barriers Black people have always faced in America. I didn't learn about Juneteenth in school when I was growing up. It was later on in college that I fully understood the history and what it meant. As a Black man in tech, Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of resilience and the fight for equality. It motivates me to push for a more inclusive tech industry where Black talent is not only valued but actively fostered. The tech industry thrives on innovation. To truly move forward, we need diverse perspectives and experiences at the table. Juneteenth serves as a call to action for the entire industry to dismantle barriers and invest in creating a more equitable space for Black professionals and professionals of color. Let's use this occasion to celebrate Black achievement in tech and recommit to building a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. #Juneteenth #BlackInTech #EqualityInTech

A Call to Humanity: Black Love, Equality, and the American Dream Black History Month isn't just a Black history story; it's a human story, an American story. It's the story of those historically marginalized, ostracized, and denied the birthright of equal opportunity. Black history is a story of resilience, unwavering hope, and a persistent demand for justice. Black History Month gives us a moment to pause and examine the ignored chapters of history, acknowledging the systems that perpetuate inequity and recognizing the intersectionality of humanity, which are crucial steps on the path to collective progress. Despite these systems, Black people have always held onto the dream of a genuinely inclusive America regardless of the pain and injustices. Fighting for equity and equality isn't about taking away one person's privileges; it's about creating a society where everyone can survive and thrive. This month and throughout the year, reflect on your beliefs and turn your reflections into progress, engage in open, uncomfortable dialogue, speak out about racism and discrimination in all forms, and advocate for systemic change, which are essential steps for dismantling oppressive structures. The fight for true equality is ongoing, but our story serves as a potent reminder that the journey toward a more just and equitable America requires action from all of us. I encourage you to commit to helping build a future where everyone can partake in the American dream. #blackhistorymonth #thedeiguy #allofus #youmatter
