Tarpeia's aims, Alleviating civic and historical illiteracy in America by bridging the chasm between the frontier of scholarship and what's in classrooms. Scholarship is leagues ahead of what is taught to the average student or even the average teacher. This chasm of academic disconnect garners a superiority complex among the top scholars who feel they deserve praise and funding for advancing a particular field even though those advancements do not enhance the learning of students nor alleviate the hardships of under funded and unsupported teachers. Yet, those advancements are still crucial in enriching the field from the bare minimum basics to something comprehensive and well researched. The issue is the disconnect between the two. An issue Tarpeia is addressing. We are taking the plethora of historical material and compiling an online repository that is centered around the continuity of history and the expectations of a good user interface in the digital age. We are not just presenting historical material, we are also curating an online curriculum that doesn't miss a single year of American history making it the most comprehensive series of courses on this topic anywhere in academia. Answers on a postcard. How do we stop the rot of lower teaching standards through a lack of CPD? -Win over Headteachers to let teachers out to training? CPD doesn't come across on their prospectus, so what is the incentive? Many Heads are aware of the positive impact of CPD, but have their hands tied with staffing issues. -Fund CPD centrally? DfE could pay for CPD directly instead of from school budgets. -Rely on charitable donations to fund CPD? Not really a sustainable model, but great for targeted interventions, resources and capitol projects. Even when we sort out the above, we have to tackle the issue of getting teachers cover to attend the training.

This is an infringement of the basic principle free speech. Seen from the outside, it paints a terrible picture of UK unis. I assumed that they upheld all the best principles of a democratic society. I see now that that idea is pie in the sky. The uni's decision is a disgraceful attack on freedom of speech and a blatant disregard for the democratic voice of its students. By silencing a young, neurodiverse Black woman who bravely stood up against Israel’s war crimes, the uni has shown a disturbing willingness to suppress voices that challenge injustice. This decision not only disrespects the role of the Rector but also sets a dangerous precedent for the future of free expression in higher education. The uni’s actions are shameful, undemocratic, and deeply disrespectful to the students it claims to represent. I wonder how much racism is involved? If this is the kind of thing that a UK uni does, then all students should avoid wasting their money in the UK, and apply to far less expensive and better unis in Europe. https://lnkd.in/dm3mYivb
