As the 2024 Auction Night approaches, we need your help with donations once again to make it a success! Your item donations will be auctioned to students during our annual Auction Night. Thus, gentle reminder to respond by April 8th, 2024, so we can coordinate accordingly. Since 1979, IF has provided stipends to MBA students pursuing summer internships that advance SOM’s mission of educating leaders for business and society. Thanks to the generous donations in the past years, over 20 students last year participated in social impact internships ranging from the National Park Service to the UN World Food Programme. Over time, we are seeing higher and higher levels of interest in social impact internships. There are two ways to give: 1. Donate an item/experience to IF’s Auction Night: We are currently seeking donations for our silent and live auction. Past alumni donations have included Broadway tickets, Polo retreats, sailboat outings, and more. If you would like to donate an item or experience, please reach out to [email protected]. 2. Make a tax-deductible donation to IF: As a benchmark, $200 sponsors a student for a full day of their internship. Every dollar counts! You can make your donation at tinyurl.com/IFdonate. Thank you so much for your generosity and support of the Internship Fund at Yale SOM!

Dashboard as Philanthropy I work in a highly practical and profit-oriented field — dashboard implementation! However, I also engage in teaching and strive to assist aspiring professionals by offering free internships, sharing knowledge… Another non-commercial aspect of our work that I take pride in is guiding my students to create free dashboards for charitable organizations under my supervision! #SummerLovingMajorGifts Post 3 of 3 (you can search hashtag SummerLovingMajorGifts to see previous posts) Are you experiencing a summer slowdown in your major gift fundraising efforts? What do you do to keep things going in your work? Let’s help each other think creatively about this! The third category of activities I suggest thinking about are “Fun”. These playful actions cover three categories: 1) Building relationships with extended families of your active givers 2) Playing together 3) Celebrating generosity Fun 🕺 Playing together with your own family and friends (self care) 💃 Playing together with your givers and prospects - what do they enjoy doing as a hobby or pastime? 🕺 Develop a summer reading list - both educational and just-plain-fun 💃 Offer a summer internship program for family and friends of givers who want to learn more about nonprofits and fundraising 🕺 Organize small “no-ask” gatherings or picnics with givers and prospects 💃 Organize local hikes 🕺 Create some “Summer of _____” swag (the blank can be a tagline, or the name of your cause, or something else related to the mission) I welcome your comments and ideas. What are some of the creative things YOU are doing this summer? #majorgifts #summerslowdown #changeofpace #relationships #fun #fundraising

As the year 2024 comes to an end, I would like to announce that recently I completed my internship at Manana Charitable Trust (NGO) as a social media volunteer. Three months ago, I stepped into the world of Manana Charitable Trust (NGO) as a Social Media Team Member, not fully knowing what lay ahead. As a bachelor's student pursuing clinical psychology , my days are often filled with theories, research, and case studies. But this experience was about something entirely different—making a real impact. At first, it was just about creating posts and drafting captions, but as I got deeper into the work, I realized the power of storytelling. Each campaign wasn’t just about awareness; it was about amplifying unheard voices, connecting with people, and sparking conversations. I remember one particular campaign vividly—it was for a pad distribution drive. While working on the content, I felt a deep sense of purpose. It wasn’t just a project; it was a chance to use creativity for change, to bring dignity to a cause that matters. These 3 months taught me things no textbook ever could: -How empathy can be woven into communication, -How collaboration makes ideas come alive, and -How every post, no matter how small, can contribute to a bigger story. I’m so grateful to the team at Manana Charitable Trust (NGO) for trusting me, guiding me, and showing me the incredible power of working for a cause. This journey has shaped not just my skills but my perspective on the impact we can create when we use our voices thoughtfully. A special thanks to Purnita Bhatt, Janvi Jha, and Trishika Tokas for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing experience. Here’s to more learning, growing, and contributing! #InternshipJourney #SocialMedia #MananaCharitableTrust #PsychologyInAction

Results for America, a non-profit organization that helps government leaders use evidence and data to find solutions to many of society’s ills – recently issued an updated case study about the progress a program in the City of Charlotte has made to improve upward mobility for its children. A decade ago in a study about intergenerational mobility of America’s 50 biggest cities, Charlotte came in dead last, but it's made leagues of progress since. They key has been the Year Up program which, according to the case study, “operates tuition-free and provides its mostly low-income participants with six months of sector-specific technical coursework followed by a six-month internship, with the goal of transitioning them into full-time roles.” This Management Update by Barrett and Greene Inc. delves into the key components of the program, which can be useful in many other cities.
