No need to keep refreshing - here's a look ahead at the rest of the process ⏲ 📰 Resume Review: The Early Careers team is currently reviewing thousands (10's of thousands, tbh) of resumes, and will continue to do so through the rest of December. We are hoping to match you with one of our many opportunities, so this can take some time! Don't be alarmed if you're still in "New" status - we will get to your application. 📽 Video Interview: If we feel that your background is a potential match for one of our opportunities, we will send over a video interview to learn more about you. You may get several of these emails as we review your resume and decide if we're moving you forward for multiple opportunities. 👋 Hiring Manager Interviews: The final step of the process won't take place until January. So if you've completed your video interview, there's not much to do until then. Less is NOT more when it comes to internships At the Morgan Stanley Tech Spring Insight week I met someone who was doing 3 different Spring Insight Weeks in different industries, at different companies. At the time, I thought this was a bit excessive. In hindsight, she was bang on. My goal at the time was to secure a grad job. The plan was: Spring Insight 🌱 -> Internship 📚 -> Grad scheme 🎓 But the benefit of doing a range of Spring Insights/Internships is that: 💼 It hugely helps any future grad job applications (shows experience, enthusiasm and you lean on the brand of the company you did the work with) 🕵️♂️ It lets you explore and work out what you do and don’t like 🥚 You don’t have all your eggs in one basket when it comes round to grad job offers ➡️ Send this to someone who’s at uni and considering doing an internship ➡️ Comment below how you found out about the early careers programs you completed

For college and graduate students, it’s a scary time in the technology job market - not so dissimilar from 2008/09 when I was coming out of undergrad! - and the dream spot is to have a team who already knows and likes you welcome you aboard. For many companies, its also an oddly scary time to try to justify technology headcount and demonstrate ROI in a layoff-clustered 24 months, so the dream spot is to have someone pseudo-onboard, prove the value we were convinced would happen with a dedicated owner in that seat, and then flip over to full time. This is what makes internships such a top priority for students to pursue — that rare “win-win” — and the internship program at Humana is a fantastic one. I genuinely enjoy seeing students get their hands on legitimate business opportunities and meaningful technology problems instead of busy work and administrata masquerading as a “tech intern”, and I have celebrated seeing quite a few of them convert to full time employees in the last few years. It’s one of the few things in the building I give my proactive “yes, you can expect I will help”.
