This #PrideMonth, we celebrate the vibrant diversity of our music community. Let's continue to foster acceptance and love for all 🌈 Here are 4 Ways to Foster an Inclusive Classroom ➡ Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eWDjbVn5 🎵 Diverse Repertoire: Including music from various cultures, genres, and historical periods. This not only broadens students’ musical exposure but also allows them to see their own cultures represented. 🌎 Cultural Context: Teaching the historical and cultural background of music pieces. This helps students understand the broader context of the music they are learning. 🎤 Student Voice: Encouraging students to share their musical interests and experiences. This can lead to more engaged learning and a sense of ownership in their musical education. 💭 Critical Discussions: Facilitating conversations about how social issues intersect with music, such as exploring how different artists have used music as a form of social commentary. By integrating these elements in curriculum development, music educators can create a curriculum that not only educates but also empowers students by honoring their diverse identities. #TMEA #InclusiveEducation #DiversityInMusic

Join me as a moderator of a panel where we will discuss our co-created pathways process with CMCB staff and faculty alongside our Creative Inquiry Labs. We all know someone who loves music but has been pushed away by a school or teacher. As music educators, it is heartbreaking to see. So how do you build a program to ensure that never happens? Some students are interested in being Performing Musicians, in winning competitions or being competitive for admission to music conservatory. But many others are Community Musicians who make music for the kinship and camaraderie of working with other people. Some are Citizen Artists, who think about how their music affects the world or their sense of social justice: artistic activists, teachers, music therapists, or liturgical musicians. And many more are Musical Explorers, learning about all the richness that music has to offer, either through learning multiple instruments or in exploring multiple genres on a single instrument. You won't want to miss this conversation about how we are finding ways to equitably value all of these voices! https://lnkd.in/edyDutYm

Another excellent story about the Parliament of NSW's inquiry into music education in schools. It's 15 minutes long, and definitely worth a listen if you want to learn more about what's going on, and why it's important. When you deny children music education you deny them the right to be a whole human being. Kids aren't automated learning machines, dying to become useful workers. They are bundles of unbridled chaotic curiosity that will learn all the things our governments want them to learn - to read, to do maths, to sit still and pay attention - as long as we give them space to explore and develop their curiosity. Kids who grow up denied music education, when they desperately want to learn an instrument, and seeing other kids being 'allowed' to do it... those kids grow up with a wound that never really heals. Our kids have enough challenges in their future - challenges they are not responsible for but will have to address nonetheless - without us piling it on by denying them this very simple, beautiful thing. Our kids deserve - and need - music. It's that basic. #MusicEducationMatters #NSWParliament #EducationThroughMusic #MusicForTheFuture #SupportMusicEducation

As a parent supporting your child’s music education, understanding these terms can help you provide better encouragement and support: 🎵 𝗥𝗵𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗺: The pattern of beats in music. Help your child clap along to simple rhythms to develop their sense of timing. 🎶 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗱𝘆: A sequence of notes that are perceived as a single, cohesive musical line. Encourage your child to sing or play simple melodies to build their musical ear. 🥁 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁: The basic unit of time in music, often felt as the “pulse” of the song. Help your child tap their feet or use a drum to keep a steady beat. 🎼 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵: The highness or lowness of a sound. Play different notes on an instrument or sing to help your child recognize and differentiate pitches. 🎵 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲: A musical symbol that represents a specific pitch and duration. Introduce your child to basic note names (like C, D, E) to build their reading skills. ⏱ 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼: The speed of the music. Use terms like “fast” or “slow” to describe how music should be played or listened to. 🔊 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀: The volume of the music (loud or soft). Help your child practice playing or singing at different volumes to understand dynamics. 🕰 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴: The ability to play or sing notes at the right moments. Encourage your child to keep time with simple songs and exercises to develop their timing skills. Understanding these terms will help you support your child’s musical growth and communicate more effectively with their teacher. #Harmoniverse #MusicEducation #ParentingTips #MusicTerms #SupportYourChild #MusicGrowth #Rhythm #Melody #Beat #Pitch #Note #Tempo #Dynamics #Timing #MusicSupport #LearnMusic #MusicSkills #MusicClass #MusicForKids #ParentingAndMusic #ChildDevelopment #MusicalJourney #MusicAwareness #MusicLearning #MusicBasics #ParentingAdvice

Is Your Child’s Potential Being Maximised? I had an interesting call with a parent today who loved their son's current violin teacher, but after two years, an intangible disconnect and slump had occurred in their relationship. It was no one's fault; it's just what happens sometimes. Even music students at conservatoire level change their teachers when the 'vibe' is off. Again, it's an intangible disconnect and no one's fault. But it remains that every child has unique musical talents that need the right environment to flourish. However, not all music tutoring agencies provide the support and opportunities necessary to fully develop these talents. Is your child receiving the education they deserve? Prelude Education was built to bridge this gap, providing expert guidance to help your child reach their full potential. From arranging performance opportunities to carefully matching teacher-student personalities, we focus on nurturing and showcasing your child’s talents in the best possible way. Let’s ensure your child’s musical abilities are fully realised. Ready to maximise your child’s musical potential? Call us today! #MusicEducation #TalentDevelopment #ParentSupport
