"The way is long if one follows precepts, but short... if one follows patterns."
~Seneca the Younger
Discern, track, and use behavioral patterns to navigate organizational politics every time, for advancement AND survival.
ALWAYS live, uphold, and propagate good precepts to build personal character and lasting organizational culture. A character and culture built on solid precepts (policies) matures into positive patterns of behavior.
If we care only about the company, we create negative patterns that repeat themselves over and over in a self-perpetuating feedback loop.
If we care about the people first, investing in them as we invest in our founding precepts, we create conditions (culture) where the people we care for, care for the company we worked so hard to create.
Good precepts create conditions for people to produce good patterns. In the long run, this leads to profits- win / win.
The proverbial tree's fruit never lies.
Grow good fruit, not poison.
If the corpses under your tree outnumber the living, relook your strategy and make drastic changes.
