Seeing each other multiple days a week, our patients become part of our DCI family. We love to celebrate milestones together. John, a Maysville, Ky., patient, celebrated 20 years with DCI earlier this month. His clinic care team marked the occasion with balloons and cupcakes for John and his fellow patients. Originally from Lindenhurst, N.Y., John is a New York Yankees fan and enjoys playing pool and video games. Thank you for trusting DCI for your care for 20 years, John. We love highlighting our amazing employees, their contributions to advancing kidney health and their commitment to DCI’s mission. Our latest employee spotlight features Darren, RN, BSN, a Nurse Manager in Middle Tennessee. During her two and a half years at DCI, she has demonstrated her strong leadership, deep compassion and dedication to excellent patient care. Darren appreciates how DCI employees and patients feel like one big family. “While our focus is still providing the best quality care, we also treat our patients with compassion and respect, sprinkled with fun and joy.” Darren may be her clinic’s “captain of the ship” but emphasizes she couldn’t do any of it without her team. “I owe everything to my team who does all the hard work on the floor; they really make me look tremendously awesome,” Darren says. At home, she loves watching her daughter’s softball games, baking treats (which she often shares with her fellow employees) and spending time with her pet hedgehog, Gertrude. Thank you, Darren, for your hard work, excellent leadership and devotion to patients. DCI is a better place because of employees like you!

DCI serves approximately 14,000 patients daily across 28 states and we’re excited to highlight some of them just as we spotlight our dedicated employees. Meet Gary, a Mexico, Mo., patient since 2020. Gary is passionate about restoring old cars, a hobby that began with his father in the 1970s. He’s also a sports fan, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. When he’s not working on classic cars, Gary, a self-proclaimed “snowbird,” can be found avoiding the Missouri winters in sunny Florida.
