I am convinced that there are other intelligent life forms in the universe besides us. Nevertheless, I am equally sure that humans are the only ones who have invented music, a simple yet complex and brilliant means of communication. We should continue to take pride in being human beings. #music #musician #humanity #human #communication #intelligence #humanintelligence #art #heart https://lnkd.in/gkPCBDH3

Do you prefer a smaller, simpler sound? Or do you prefer a full, cinematic orchestra? Sharing a track of mine from the recent documentary *Testament*, which tells stories of everyday people living through the war in Ukraine. This entire score was for string quintet, piano, and clarinet. We went for an understated sound because the war stories were so intense. We didn't want to dramatize them, or manipulate the audience. In scoring, sometimes less is more! https://lnkd.in/gUb9qCwf

Musicology; Ethnomusicology; Popular music; Syncretism; Historical discography; Eastern piano; Eastern Europe-Balkans-Mediterranean-Middle East
The “Eastward Piano” delves into the surviving piano schools documented in eastward historical discography. The project highlights a distinct and unexplored aspect of the piano. It focuses on the discography of folk and high-status repertoires found in a variety of musical realities, within a broad geographical span: Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Eastern Mediterranean, North Africa, the Middle East. Artistically, the project moves on two inter-dependent axes: the creation of a unique pianistic repertoire, and the development of a performance practice, which diverges from typical pianistic categorizations. Improvisation is a setting stone of these procedures. > https://lnkd.in/d6rwcqFU

All posts or opinions are my own and do not necessarily represent those of any organization of which I am part.
Top conductors employ comprehensive musical knowledge (subject matter expertise) and truly AMAZING organizational and communications (analytical and motivational) skills. They MUST, to ensure 40, 70, 100, or more people execute and express their interpretation of complex musical ideas consistently, beautifully and perfectly, with VERY little rehearsal - most often fewer than 6-8 total hours - for a 1.5 to 2 hour performance! #musicbusiness #classicalmusic #filmmusic #music #operaarts. #balletarts, #dance #danceeducation #musiceducation #artseducation #steam #finearts

🎷 Just read a fascinating article by René Rusch, Keith Salley, and Chris Stover: "Capturing the Ineffable: Three Transcriptions of a Jazz Solo by Sonny Rollins." It delves deep into the art of transcribing a jazz solo, highlighting the intricate dance between capturing a performer's intent and the constraints of musical notation. It’s a reminder that jazz is as much about feel and context as it is about notes on a page. As jazz lovers, how do we balance remaining true to the original performance while giving room for our own interpretations? 🎶 To explore more about jazz techniques and insights, visit www.mirkoguerrini.com 🎶
